Well, it was the anniversary of Gettysburg recently and I thought I would do this. This is not technically a game as such, more as an interactive delve into history. You can pick a person, to be, and be them. In a role play nature you will gain skills and rank etc based on performance.
Only player characters will be modeled, I.E, if we have 1 player who takes General Sickles of the Union army, only engagements in which Sickles was involved will be modeled closely. However there will be a simple strategic element.

Rules-recruit and arm 1000 more men costs 20 manpower and 100 industry points. (can be done as many times as you have army camps)
-create army camp costs 200 industry points and 10 manpower.
-create 1 supply point, 50 industry and 10 manpower.
-every 10,000 troops use 1 supply each month.
-each major city captured from the enemy requires a garrison (1000 men) or it will revolt and cut the armies supply line.
-commanders can control armies. General military rules will be taken into account, river crV-Norrec - Abraham Lincolnossings, marching, surprise attacks, scouting etc.
-entrenchment can be made, it takes 10 days for every 1 point of fortification
The maximum fortification that can be done is equal to the game year(1861 = 1 1864 = 4)
each level represents a better level of fortification, 1 being barricades, 5 being redoubts.
cities count as being already 1 fort level.
-marching speed - 10 miles a day [slow], 20 m/d[regular] 30m/d[fast] 40m/d[extreme]
smaller groups of troops will move faster, as will units with a leader who is known for quick marching(such as Jackson). This also works negative, as with McClellan being a cautious advancer. Slower advances mean less chance of being ambushed. Faster means more, judge the risk or cost against your needs.
The level of control: You
can choose where the armies maneuver, you
cannot free the slaves as the confederacy. You
can control the tactical positions pre a major battle. You
can control the unit you have in a battle. Commanders(Lee, Grant etc)
cannot command forces, they merely decide the grand strategy of the battle. You
can play Abe Lincoln and Jeff Davis(you control production etc).
*more to come

April 12, 1861 Fort Sumter surrenders to the confederacy, the civil war has begun.
-both sides start with 200 manpower from volunteer enlistments
