UPDATE!!!

Journal of General Kisame

Today we got a big suprise. Migrants had come! They were headed towards another fortress, Sugarplant or something like that. They had gotten lost and were looking for shelter when they saw the castle. Guess it was good for something after all. There were at least 15 of them, cold, hungry, and tired. We had to carve out some new bedrooms for them, a little smaller than the others to save space and to get them dug out quickly. I've also noticed that I don't need to sleep very often... others in the fortress have noticed changes to themselves and in others. Whatever the Professor did, it sure is strange.

OCC:YAY MIGRANTS!! Our poulation is now up to 35 dwarfs. I carved out some 2x3 rooms for the new migrants to sleep in.

Ah another update, refeshing. In the Masters absence (power outtage most likely due to storm, hopefully he is un-injured) I will try and manage this until his awaited arival. And I usally make bed rooms 3x3 with 2 cabinets, 2 coffers, bed, and the usal door. Some for picky dwarves get 5x5 (sheriff/CoG and other nobles) where special dwarves get custom rooms.

These guys are lucky, usually most of my dwarves have 1x2 rooms or 2x2 arranged in a nice fractal spiral. Nobles get a 5x5 room with a statue, table, chair, dresser, and armor stand. If I like the dwarf they usually get a house to themselves or to share with family.

We are talking about dwarves here.... They slaughter kittens and have no disregard for childcare or any humanine rights what-so-ever.... So maybe being lodged in a 1x2 hole helps them... ferment their dark thoughts?

Maybe when we get this fort up and running to a higher lvl we can mandate better rooms made, maybe even small cavern hovels.

I wanted everyone near the barracks in case of attack. There simply wasn't enough room to give them all 3x5 rooms, and it was just to handle the overflow until I could build better ones. What do you prefer, a 3x2 room with a bed OR a dirt floor?
