Cat > Dwarf
« on: July 04, 2011, 07:54:40 am »

Alright I just had a great laugh at my report that came up. I had just reclaimed my lost fort and noticed that a green message came, I pressed A and saw this.

Mebzuth Morulalis Stray Cat(Tame) has adopted Likot Shemtirist Metalsmith

Have I read that wrong or did my cat adopt my metalsmith?

In DF, your dwarves don't adopt cats like they do other creatures.  Cats adopt them.  Then mind control them into paying more attention to their cute, cuddlyness than their job.  They're evil... EEEEVVVVIIIILLLL.  But they make great roast.

Cat adopts dwarf.

That's the way it works in real life, too, only with humans and not dwarfs.

Except you can't butcher pets.

Urist McCrazycatlady would go stark raving mad if you touched one of her thirteen little kitties.

This is why you send her into the danger room, unarmored of course.
Gets rid of the cats and most likely she will be to beat up to pose any big threat if she goes berserk from all her dead kittens.
Also she won't be able to get adopted by more kittens if she is dead, another big extra.

Has that ever happened before?

And of course, you have to kill her friends, husbands, and children, because, after all, you don't want them tantruming
, Now do you?

What else is awesome is that cat will kill vermin and bring it to their dwarf to show off their new "trophy".

Since cats adopt dwarves it could even be seen as... a threat.

and these trophies cause miasma, that causes dwarves to have bad thoughts, so after all, its just easier and better to get rid of the cats AND the owner. Only dwarves who suffer are cat owner's relatives, while everyone suffers from miasma ;)

Honestly, if you dont want a catsplosion, the easiest way is to make one cage and stuff all the kittens your cats have inside. That prevents death by cat and dorfs can still get good thoughts by "being comforted by a wonderful creature in a cage."

Vermin corpses don't cause miasma.
