Gathering his belongings, Gareid sits frozen for a moment, whispering "Why the hell didn't I think of that when I came here?" Upon setting out to the town, Gareid attempts to locate minerals underground to use for Armor

Head to town, offer to accompany Saiya if she's headed that way.

Find a beehive. Kill the bees in it with an AoE spell, then reanimate them.

Meanwhile, Triplets search the town for corpses and bring back anything larger than a dog.
How big are Triplets, by the way?

Oh god why.

Now that you mention it, they're probably bigger than a good-sized dog by certain measurements. The flying monkeys weren't meant to be all that small.

Oh god why.
There are approximately fifty thousand bees in a beehive. Having the experience of reanimating fifty thousand and three corpses is a giant advantage when you're applying for a job.

Turn 10: Bursts

Wooooo?

Try again.
[2][Luck 5] Yeah, about those detours... you do eventually make it, but you look and feel like hell. On the bright side, all the dust and brambles will make you look hardened and tough to the right people, though some will recognize that you just couldn't quite follow the road successfully.

Gathering his belongings, Gareid sits frozen for a moment, whispering "Why the hell didn't I think of that when I came here?" Upon setting out to the town, Gareid attempts to locate minerals underground to use for Armor
[6-1][Luck 6] You give a pulse to the earth, and it echoes back. You can tell there aren't really any minerals right here... but much further north, you suspect there'd be something.

+6 Earth

Continue looking for jobs.
[6][Luck 1] Probably illegal pitfighting.
[3][Luck 5] Escorting some rich guy through mildly dangerous territory. Might get a bonus or further work if you're lucky.
[5][Luck 4] A merchant caravan needs to be escorted a long ways away. Most of the trip is safe, but there's a patch of corrupted woods they'd like guards for.

You get the feeling that's most of the offers you're going to get. Of course, you could always head elsewhere to look for work, if nothing catches your eye right here.

Head to town, offer to accompany Saiya if she's headed that way.

[2] She's got other things to deal with first. You get back to town without incident, though. Your contacts would be interested in those glands, or you could keep them for yourself.

Find a beehive. Kill the bees in it with an AoE spell, then reanimate them.

Meanwhile, Triplets search the town for corpses and bring back anything larger than a dog.
How big are Triplets, by the way?
[5][Luck 5] Somehow, there just so happens to be a beehive not far from town, with a farmer currently in the middle of crying that they've gone berserk and won't somebody please save his bee-loving daughter.

[1-1][Luck 5] Unfortunately you create a burst of necrotic energy right on yourself, which doesn't harm any civilians but does savage your life force. On the bright side, you don't have any other ill side effects, and it seems to have scared the bees off attacking anyone for now.

+4 Necromancy
-8 HP

He gets some offers.

Well, might as well look for an ingredient gathering job.
[6][Luck 3] Someone needs "ingredients" gathered from demons up north.
[6][Luck 4] Someone more reasonable wants someone to wander into the sanity-warping madness of the east to gather insanity-inducing ingredients.
[2][Luck 5] Someone else wants you to go gather ingredients in the western swamps, but mostly from regions with fewer flesh-eating undead.

Try to learn a spell which makes my arrows rapidly and epically combust when they hit something
[1][Luck 5] The oaf hogging your book foils most of your efforts. You do catch the brief section beforehand explaining that practice makes perfect, and that imbuing weapons with elemental attacks often benefits from skill at both the magic used and weapon handled.

Take the offer of escorting the rich guy. Hopefully we're the only guards he needs, we can make sure he pays the right amount if that's so.

Give one of the glands to the contractors. Keep the other for myself, but don't mention it to them. Try to find a book along the lines of leadership in minions if I can, or a basic alchemy guide.

Also... Irony... what are we supposed to be doing anyway? Just wander around?

Find job, do job was the intended pattern (for now), but I suppose I could think of something a bit more solid.
