Oh. Um. I sort of assumed following him was automatic, or something.

I dunno. :-\

Nope. You guys had to manually follow him. You were allowed one turn, and then you would have to follow him at the end of it (by specifically saying).

None of you guys followed him. Which is going to cost many NPC lives, likely a large amount of your payment, and likely Ilos kicking your collective asses (mostly TolyK, though)--if she lives (yes, Dostricht, Ilos, and that man can die. And I know I won't be the only sad panda if Dostricht dies. Thankfully, he survived one turn... barely--he lost his entire squad!).

Holy shit. What are we walking into? :o

Also, I'm getting the mental image of an armored man giving a commanding gesture for us to follow, with us then derping around like penguins casting spells everywhere. Why spell-penguins? Why not spell-penguins.

THIS IS WHY YOU GUYS WERE BEING SNEAKY. GETTING THE FIRST BLOW AGAINST SUPERIOR NUMBERS AND ODDS IS IMPORTANT. Jeez, I really need to start a "Derp-a-thon", blatantly telling and listing all the stupid things each one of you guys do. I mean, seriously, you guys are like... IQ 50 or something. -_-

The correct number is an IQ of 35, because you forgot Taricus only has an IQ of 3

EDIT: Anyway I think I am going to stick with Taricus, since I have no actual fighting abilities.

Tarran, if you proceed as planned and punish the players for not being telepaths, Westlands RTD will die of boredom very fast. Reason for this is that basically, your plan will lead to:
- a bigger amount of time spent simulating combat;
- lack of players' advancement due to not having the money to buy better items;
- your imagination being restricted by NPCs' hatred towards the players;
- and you having to kill several NPCs you obviously like.
All of these can slow down or kill tabletop and forum games, so please, consider being merciful and railroading the players instead.

Now, we probably shouldn't derail this thread any further, it's not nice for Irony.

I don't think it's just the random sex with the wife, man.

The drinking to unconsciousness and HP loss may also be an important factor.

Turn 8: Smells Like Victory

Take a ring, then look for another job.
[1] Some guy has some truly massive pigs- really, they're almost the size of cows- that he needs help escorting somewhere. He doesn't have much money and won't go into why exactly he needs armed wizards to get them from Point A to Point B. Plus, they smell terrible.

The dwarf hands you a stone ring. It's sort of a faintly yellowish brown, but with rather nice, very thin bands running at an angle.

+Gneiss Ring

Make both of my summons disappear, and then go in search of more work. Also try summoning a demon sword again.
[3] Some old lady wants some guards to escort her potion shipment out to a nearby village. It's not great work, but there's worse assignments.

[4][Luck 5], [6][Luck 5] You summon a very nice demonic sword. It looks rather malicious, naturally, being a sort of mottled/striped red and black, with a sharp, ever so slightly serrated blade. It also seems extremely sturdy, but likely isn't any better than a regular sword in battle.

+6 Summoning
+Demonic Sword

Get the corpses, ask the dwarf for a jar, buy a piece of chalk when in town. Look for a job which involves killing a solitary target.
[1][Luck 5] You mangle the corpses trying to harvest them, but that's just as well because now you can carry the bones without all that soft meat weighing them down.

[6] There's supposedly some horrible, horrible plant monster lurking somewhere out in the woods. It hasn't generally been a problem, but the captain of the guard will pay you well to dispose of it. He notes that it tends to rip the bones clear out of its victims, however, so you might want to reconsider.

You purchase your chalk and the dwarf hands you an earthy-colored jar.

+Monkey Bones (about two monkeys worth)
+Chalk, -Minor Silver Pouch
+Schist Jar

Hope that Gareid puts himself out.

[6][Luck 1] You experience horrible nightmares of Gareid extinguishing all flame forever. Nooooooooooo!

Plant dead, Only to be on fire myself... You've somehow molded suspense into a sledgehammer that is killing me over here.

Put it out! Use earth to smother it!
[6][Luck 2] You shower yourself with excessive dirt, but it doesn't actually put out the flames.

-3 HP
Incapacitated but not dying

Go look for another, EASIER job.
[6][Luck 4] Someone wants you to go out and butcher something he calls helltoads, for some part or another. As in, foot-long, not generally hostile toad-like things. The hardest part would be catching them.

Collectors
[5][Luck 5] You both wake up to a delicious smell, and the realization that the worst of your wounds have been tended to and bandaged. You then notice a woman in a plain white robe eating parts of the plant's bulb, and clearly enjoying it quite a bit. It's also night, and so relatively cool.

She introduces herself as a fire initiate and medic who was hoping to fell the plant. On discovering that it had already been dealt with, she decided to bandage up the poor sods who had just barely beaten it, and take a bit of its delicious, slow-roasted bulb in exchange. She assumes you'll want the rest and the fire glands, which is presumably what you were after in the first place (it was).

There are five sections of plant bulb, which is a delicious food (each section is a full days' worth). There are two fire glands, which are potent fire magic reagents.

Newcomers
You find yourselves at The Academy. You can find work here, or venture wherever you like to look for something to do there.

Thank the girl for her assistance ("Do you have a name?"), eat a bit of bulb, and put the two reagents in my pack.
