Gareid smirks to himself, "A largely unexplored land with all sorts of strange, unstudied beasts and ripe with all sorts of possible opportunities." Gareid closes the tome on the Eastern Forest, "This sounds right up my avenue, though it'd be pointless to go there without some other incentive..." He sets out to find any other jobs that might pertain to the Forest.

Finding dangerous and likely illegal ingredients from demons in the desolate north?

Sounds like fun.

Gather a bit more info about the specific location and such, then look for rations/water, some rope, a couple of torches, and anything else that might look useful.

Good lord, you leave for three hours and the thread explodes.

Find more information about the location my job requires me to go to, and books on how to summon demons.

Twiddle thumbs until Prologue ends.

I'm out of ideas and, to be honest... I'm slowly loosing interest. I'll just wait.

[5] A nearby section on alchemy and related subjects quickly reveals that the forest is full of relatively easy to acquire possibilities. Various plants, mushrooms, and other easily harvested materials have sought-after properties, though there are occasionally some downsides involved. Anyone who managed to venture very far into the forest without being ripped apart or driven insane would likely find quite a few items of interest to alchemists, enchanters, and the odd smith or tailor who worked with exotic materials.

[6] Hellstone Citadel. Sure, it's located on a place called the Burning Plains. Sure, it's a towering, imposing spire of black rock framed in numerous fires and the simmering heat of the land it sits on. Sure, it's surrounded by a lava moat, and sure, there's more lava inside. And sure, many of the inhabitants take great pleasure in flaying creatures alive using their smoldering claws. But just think of all the fire-related materials inside! Besides which, there's rumors that some of the inhabitants might be willing to cut deals with mortals- unusual, to say the least.

Alas, no provision acquiring just yet.

[6] Your soon-to-be employer regales you with probably embellished tales of his adventures. Supposedly they stick to the marshier parts of the west so as to stay more mobile than most of the shambling dead around there. Otherwise, they travel anywhere there might be a relatively easy mark. Aside from pestilence and every variety of ravening undead imaginable, there's not much to worry about.

Slight issue- you still don't know where you're going. The prologue can't really end until everyone more or less decides what they'll be doing when it does so.

Find a book on lunar demons.
[5] "Lunar" demons is a very loose category involving demons associated with the moon. They're usually stronger when the moon is fuller, but that varies widely. They typically display somewhat feral or unbalanced mental states, are often somewhat lean, fast, and vicious, and sometimes display teleportation, uncanny vision, or other relatively subtle supernatural powers.

Fine.

Go south for one mile. Then west for half a mile, then south again for another half a mile.

I think Irony meant when you decide what quest to take, and where ever that takes you.

So... south-southwest as a wandering swordsman? It's not like it's hard to find work, or you could just follow another player around.

adwarf pretty much has it, although a quest isn't strictly necessary.

Take the mercenary offer, then head to the inn if possible.
You arrive at an inn, with work lined up. Now he just needs to finish his business here and you're off.

Oh FINE.

Go find three random people in need of a swordsman, ask them what their job is about. Stuff.

"Hrm, plenty of money to be made but, going this alone would be a suicide mission..." Gareid notices a figure passing through the aisles of the Archive. Curious, Gareid follows him, and observes as the figure remove a couple books, studying them for a few moments before leaving. Gareid looks over the books that the figure had read, "Demons of the north, I remember hearing about demand for supplies from there, too". Gareid places the books back and elects to follow the man (dermonster), perhaps it'll be a safer route than going into the forests, alone on a one-track mission. Regardless, Gareid takes his notes on the various reagents and materials in demand from the East, and quickly scribbles down relevant details of the north as well

ooc: Well, as far as my survival rates are concerned, I think I'm going to follow dermonster instead of going alone to the East >_>.

I hardly think it's unreasonable to not railroad you without being asked. ::)

[1] Hooker. Moving on.

[1] Gigolo. You're noticing a disturbing trend.

[5] You find an apathetic swordsman whose job is to kill demons. He doesn't go into much detail, but apparently he also hires other people to kill demons for him.

Get a drink then get to work!
You savor your drink, which you suspect won't be over until HmH and Tarran pick a place.

ooc: Well, as far as my survival rates are concerned, I think I'm going to follow dermonster instead of going alone to the East >_>.
Noted. As a reminder, it's not too late to adjust your decision until the prologue actually ends.
