You....hate stone? What are you an elf?! The stone keeps you safe, a haven for your dwarves!! If you hate stones you hate dwarves, so grow a beard and learn to love stones!!

In any case most has been answered but I feel necesary to say gathering spider silk is really not as dangerous as it seems.
The most numerous cavern dwellers are, in my experience, crundles and troglodytes. Crundles are harmless and only attack when provokes, troglodytes are agressive but weak, and a dwarf should be able to beat one in a wrestling fight, so they're only dangerous in large numbers.
Also creatures that aren't dangerous in my experience are draltha, rutherer and elk bird, they'll rather avoid your dwarves then fight.
So unless you see a group of blind cave ogres rampaging around, your weaver should be safe as he goes to collect silk.

Unless ofcourse there's forgotten beasts, wich should be confronted and killed at once instead of hiding from them like a pansy elf.
