Lord of Ultima:Build a city
« on: July 02, 2011, 02:28:27 pm »

Alright, this is a MMORTS. It is about building your city, managing it and conquering other people. It has resource management and alliances.

You guys probably know a lot of these games. If enough people are interested we could form an alliance, I am in world 33.

God DAMN I love this game!

plus, if you want to fetch some referers, you want to

A) be transparent about it, not trying to deceive by hiding it on a link
B) fix the link so it actually works

This is what happens when you open a new tab and forget about it for about an hour.

I don't get it. How does this title benefit from the Ultima name?

It's completely different. They didn't even put it in the Ultima universe, seeing as the whole background is:
Sosaria is gone. Look, a new unrelated land called Caledonia, yay Ultima?

It's kinda like if I was making a game about building space stations and called it Stations of Star Wars, only it doesn't have any jedi or storm troopers or Star Wars aliens or anything and it's just about some new planet with its orbital stations.

No joke I had some off work due to some illness and I made it to rank 10 on some server (out of a few thousand) and stuck there for a week until I had to go run some errands and in that time I got wiped off the world map completely, going from 3 pretty hardcore cities to a respawn hovel.   It's a terrific game if you want to feel like you've wasted tons of hours of effort!

Yeah, so you spend hours doing something, maybe even days and then you leave for 30 minutes and it's all gone?
No thanks.

Ohh it is one of those stupid MMORTS games that work like some sort of weird pyramid scheme?

God, these kind of games. Let me guess you can only do a certain amount of things a day, and theres a time limit for each thing you build. But you can speed this time limit up by buying a bunch of shit right?

Essentially, yeah.  I knew what it was going in.

Well, Ultima Online's had ninja and samurai and all that for years.  And Ultima 9 had all sorts of "What's a gargoyle?" dialogue options and weird libertarian overtones.   So there's nothing new about that.

Catch with this is, that you don't have to battle other people, you can fully focus on economics. If you don't build a castle, nobody can attack you.
