You could post what you plan to bring/skills to assign, that way people could make suggestions etc

Exactly. Ethics in DF are very realistic - trivial and pointlessly selectively ex/inclusive.

I'm down for some of this!
Been playing a few years, don't understand EVERYTHING, but I've got a good grasp of the basics.
I also get pretty messed up ideas halfway through a fortress. So yeah. Sign me up :)

Data->init->embark_profiles.txt

I'd suggest you come up with one that is pretty adaptable because you won't know if you need wood, stone...or seven armed military dwarfs to survive :-)

Making a universal profile isn't hard. I use the exact same one almost every time. Make sure to include plenty of wood and stone, though. And at least one military dwarf.

This is a great idea.  Sort of like a challenge fort/embark that everyone runs in parallel.  After the first year or so everyone would post results of their survival or defeat.

I usually bring about 100 drinks consisting of 25 of each type of booze, 80 food of 40 meat, 20 fish and 20 Plump Helmets, an anvil (preferably iron), 5 copper bars to cover the demand for more axes and picks, a few chickens, generally around 7 or so rabbits for their skins, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and, if points allow, some leather and a pair of sheep (ewe and ram) for their wool. I always hope to get a female horse, yak, water buffalo, or camel (one or two humps) to breed for more animals for their skins, too. I always have two miners and woodcutters, a metalsmith, a lead farmer and a leader. My woodcutters are always at least novice axemen, just in case. In areas with an aquifer and clay, I tend to dump my metalsmith in favor of a potter/weaver/clothier. If I really don't want to deal with digging and have the above situation, I'll dump my miners and smith for a third woodcutter, a potter/weaver/clothier, and an ambusher/hunter.

This is a very cool idea, i'm keen on seeing the results. 1 Year seems to be a little short though, no ?

You have to see what happens after one year, it would be a "first update". then we can see if we play on!
