Cool!

A build a week wasn't far off before this latest revision...  hopefully this wait will be very unusual.  And I don't think the efficiency of the screenshot is all that important -- new people brought into the game are gonna have bigger problems than that, like figuring out how to play at all.  The only thing that bugged me was craning my neck to see the world map right side up, he he he.

And yeah, that sweaty picture in the orange shirt is me.  That was when I went over to the math department here for the first time, and it was like 100 degrees out, and I had walked an hour to get there.

What kind of monitor setup do you have that requires you to crane your neck to see the world map?

But what do I know?
Everything I say should be taken with atleast 1 tsp. of salt, and another liter of Dwarven Wine is recommended.

If you mean the fact that it is turned Pi/2 counterclockwise then:
1) That would be tilting your head, not craning your neck  :)

Thats really odd.

I just sent Jeff Green the editor-in-chief an email last week telling him to check out Dwarf Fortress. Jeff acted as if he hadn't heard of it and was excited to pass it around the staff. Weird coincidence?

Eek, I'm just glad Toady doesn't give us homework assignments.  Maybe there could be a math professor noble that teaches your dwarves basic mechanics and architecture skill  ;)

Been passing the article around to the heathens that say "WTF is THAT?!" and won't look further than the ASCII.

Next time, use my tileset! It makes any fortress look good

That's really cool.

Disappointed that they didn't mention Adventure mode, or the way Fortress and Adventure mode tie together so beautifully.

herrb's tileset ftw. The article could've probably used a small mention of the custom tilesets, though. Other then that, great read.

And cool, they're playing Go in that pic. I love that game, just wish I'd have more time to play and people to play with. It just takes too long to get any hang of it, and I haven't had time to play a single game in 6 months, so I probably couldn't beat anyone anymore. I did play a game or two every day some years ago.

There is a huge, vast amount of people playing go on the net. Strong people. Interesting people. Look up "kiseido" and come join us !   :)
