You and your brother decide that it is not worth your time pursuing these Roman scouts, you continue through the forest. It begins to drizzle. Soon, you are on the edge of an even larger clearing, and the drizzle turns into a downpour. Through the rain you can see a tall palisade wall in the middle of the clearing, smoke is rising from buildings behind this wall. This must be the main Roman camp. A few men are standing guard outside the main gate and others are in watchtowers. Overall, it is not a very large fort. From what you can see, there are 3 guard towers and a few small buildings inside, you can only see their roofs.

You've collected enough info on this fort, now you must meet back up with the other scouts and return to the village. After walking through the forest for what felt like an hour, you lost track of your brother. Suddenly, you hear a desperate shout off in the distance and then a roar. It was definitely a bear. Your gut wrenches and you fear the worst, then you take off through the woods and find your brother and the bear. Your brother is pinned up against a large tree, with his spear held out. The bear is a few feet away from him, roaring, a massive beast. It see's you and rushes your brother. What will you do next?

Yeah. The bear isn't looking, and a good hit on the head should disable him.

he is aware of us, though. still, the arrows wouldn't cause nearly enough damage, and as we wield a shield we stand a much better chance of surviving a confrontation than our shieldless brother, who can, with his spear, support us while we entertain the beast

I don't know, bears have strong bones and muscles that make them resistant to injury. Hit him in the rear left leg-if we hobble him, we can escape easier, then finish him off with arrows from a distance, to put him out his misery.

The bear is almost skewered on your brothers spear, but it stands up on it's hind legs in front of him, swatting him with it's paws. Now is the perfect time to attack. You charge the bear with your hand axe, aiming for its legs, but you trip over a root! You still manage to embed the axe in the bears lower back. It swings around and knocks you onto the ground. Standing over top of you, It roars in bloodthirsty rage and slashes your chest, cutting deep with its claws! Your brother jumps forth and stabs the bear in the upper back with his spear. You hastily pull out your fathers knife while the bear is disoriented and jam it into the bear's throat, blood spatters all over you. The bear slouches over dead on top of you. Your brother helps you out and you retrieve your axe from the bears back. All the commotion must have alerted the Romans, as two of them are approaching you yelling in a foreign tongue. One launches a strange spear at you, which misses and strikes a nearby tree. They are about 50 feet away from you. The rain is unrelenting. What will you do next?

Flee! We're faster on our feet they than are in armor, which is a good enough reason anyway.

Leg it, ducking behind trees, jumping over stuff, the whole deal.
Why didn't we bring a spear?! Could've made that bear business a bit easier... Oh well. :P

Clutching your chest, you make a run for it. The Romans are unable to keep up, their armor weighing them down. Soon you two are alone in the middle of the woods, drenched from the rain, which has been falling for hours on end. You stop to rest for a moment, you feel a bit winded. The cuts on your chest aren't bleeding really any more, and your brother seems to be fine so you continue onwards. Praise the Gods! You spot the horses off into the distance along with the rest of your men. It seems that the other scout group also came into contact with some Romans, and managed to kill one! They brought back a metal helmet. Funny, you thought it was some sort of cauldron. It will provide better armor than this silly fur hat anyway.

You mount the horses and head towards the steppes. By the time you've made it to the edge of the forest, the raining stops and the sun shines over the steppes once more. You and your men spot something on the horizon while riding. Will you investigate?

No, you still have them both, you pulled it out of the dead bear and your brother has the spear.
