Afterwards, we need to

-Start attending to the wounded, so they can be looked after by whatever healers we have left
-Put out any fires before they spread
-Bury our dead
-Find out how long our remaining food stocks will last, and if any of the crop can be saved

You and your father explain to your bewildered brother what's happened to the village and assure him that neither of you are hurt. Your brother demands retaliation on the Roman aggressors. Your family agrees that they should first tend to the village.

Now begins the bloody business of the day... Most of the fires have died down by now and the few that were still ablaze are quickly extinguished except for one raging inferno at the tavern, which is completely engulfed in flames. Luckily, the tavern is not close to any vulnerable buildings. Overall, 50% of the buildings in the village were burned. The wounded are gathered at the town center, which has been converted into a field hospital by the priests. There is no time to bury all the dead individually, so a mass grave will be dug. The priest will have to sacrifice some of our horses to the dead, as is custom.

The food stocks are ok now that the hunters have returned. The fields however are mostly burned. The village will likely take months, even years to recover. But, the immediate situation is under control.

The Roman can come back anytime, and our fields are burned. We need to lead the village to new lands!

Maybe if the village was worse off. For now, lets mourn and then set off to eradicate the roman scum.

You mean worse than half-burned and half-killed with no crops and Roman tha can come back at any time? Who'll protect the village when the men are away?

We shall be keeping the romans busy on their own front. They wont bother with our half razed village. However, we may need to just that if the village gets in a irreversable state.

Maybe we could join another village, but I don't think we're ready to just pack and move out. In case, this place is still livable, anyway. I say we stay and rebuild, rather go off and die in the wilderness to the elements, or get captured and enslaved by other clans or the Romans

Also, most of the people of our village will be travelling with the men who join the army-even if they can't fight, they can travel with us and support our warriors. It's not like we can defend the village, anyway-only the old, young and worst of the wounded will remain.
