The Elders accept your idea of complying with the Nobles and bringing all able bodied villagers along to help fight the Romans. You return to your house to sleep for the night.
You wake up to the sound of metal clanging, you find your brother is in the next room sharpening a sword. He is clad in scaled armor and chain mail, he looks up at you and his face changes to anger:
"Why did you abandon us on the field of battle, you're lucky I put in a good word with the nobles or they'd use your skull as a chalice!"
"I refuse to slaughter innocent people, brother."
"Bah, they were Roman vermin, trying to settle here and defile our ancestral lands!"
-- Your argument is interrupted by the heavy thuds of galloping horses, you both exit the house to find the Scythian Nobles have returned and are in the town center. The Elders begrudgingly offer up our finest hunters and horsemen. A crowd gathers around, and people offer their own children to the nobles, unable to care for them alone. The Nobles only accept your village's young men into the army. The campaign will likely be long and brutal, your people have no option but to return to the steppe as a nomadic people. The old and crippled will stay with your desolate village.
