I have way too much just the right amount of free time video games.

Also, I have singlehandedly grinded for each and every single one of my achievements because I never knew there was that tool.

would hate to lose my library of games not because I was an achievement whore, but a cheating achievement whore. While it is EXTREMELY unlikely, I'm simply not going to take that risk.

Also, what's the point of achievements if you don't actually achieve anything?

Grinding achievements is an achievement on it's own.

I doubt achievements like that give self-esteem to anyone. I agree most of them are a waste of space. But a good, difficulty and interesting achievement gives sense of.. accomplishment, when you get it :)

For example:

Bad achievements: "Mario kills 1 000 000 koopas!!!!" "PLAY FOR 5 000 HOURS!!!!1" "PlAy TwO-pLaYeR gAmE!!11" "Buy DLC for super mario!!!!!!"

Good achievements: "Finish Super Mario without dying." "Finish the game under an hour" "Kill Bowser without using any mushrooms." etc etc

Welp, something like that would be stupid, but if it were "Beat the first level" then you'd have some sort of milestone to show your progress in the game.

Also, still nobody Portal 2? D:

I am down for some Portal 2. None of my friends care about the summer stuff, so I'm on my own for co-op junk :\ Add Castile if anyone's interested.

I have 15 tickets total, and there aren't any more prizes I want. I just used the last six on two prizes that I wasn't even really interested in (the goo gear snorkels, I haven't even played the portal 2 co-op since I haven't beaten the singleplayer yet, and the X3:TC sector, which is just an empty sector with some asteroids).

The odds of winning the grand prize have to be almost zero, so I'm not even thinking about that.

As I see it, there are roughly three kinds of "achievements":
Milestones: These are stuff like "finish level 1", "get to level X" etc. They're pretty much inevitable as long as you play the game. Most games ONLY have these because the developers don't know shit.
Training Tasks: This is 99% of the achievements in TF2. They're not meant to reward you, they're meant to guide you to being a better player as that class. So, when I see one of the soldier's achievements is, "Destroy 20 stickybombs with your shotgun", I think to myself, "Hmm, that's probably a good idea" and get to it. Most people don't learn from them (because they're idiots) but it's a worthy endeavour, and those people never learn anyway because they're self-obsessed.
Genuine Achievements: Tasks of monumental skill or dedication. See the "hardmode" shit in World of Warcraft from Wrath of the Lich King onwards. These are DIFFICULT and require complete and utter coordination to complete. Almost no games whatsoever have these.

I'll get to working on guides for all of todays tasks, by the way, ladies and gents.

Is there some poor soul willing to withstand a horde of inane comments on their screenshots for the good of the community? I offer my own gallery in service, but require an individual to comment upon myself.
