So, yeah, this summer thing with the unlockable DLC and stuff. How're you guys finding it?

I tried to do the A(*whatever)hh! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity thing first and have subsequently found myself losing all interest in the summer thing. God damn, I hate that game so much.

BIT.TRIP BEAT - Sunbathing - Be perfect in Transition up to the first intermission. Really easy. It's only about one minute thirty seconds. Don't miss a single one up to the flashy big with the big colour blocks that fill the screen.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Retribution - Promethium Summer - Kill 50 enemies while using a flamer. This is 50 enemies overall, I think, so should be pretty easy.
Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West - Summer Hits - Kill 7 enemies in a row with headshots without dying. Impossibly hard, especially when you consider that on 99% of servers either some fucker is lagging and still killing you but you can't hit him, or you're lagging so hard you can't kill anyone. Get a friend, host a serer and get the achievement.
AaAaAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity - Air. Wind. Sun. Pain. I Am All of This, and Your Mom Makes a Fine Pasta Dinner - Complete the Summer Sun level from the main menu with full points. It's hard. And I do mean really hard. If you miss a plate that's over 250 moneys, make sure to die and go get it. You end up with a higher net score. Do the tutorials if you haven't already. Oh, and it's selectable at the starting splash screen.
Toki Tori -Get a Tan - Stand in all sun beams. I'll just leave this right here...
Swords and Soldiers HD - Vamos a la playa - Complete Viking Campaign level 3 by killing all units. Really easy. Just follow the campaign, take all diverging paths with different units and you should be done.

Hamilton's Great Adventure - Beach 2011 - Complete the "Up, up and away" extra level in the Amazon Jungle. Here you go.
SpaceChem - Science is an Indoor Activity - Beat 3 published ResearchNet assignments. Follow these guides.
Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Summer Son - Your daimyo wins 3 consecutive land battles during the summer season. Apparently the way to do this is to attack an army twice and then hope another army attacks you the same season but in their turn. Save files set up for that situation just in case.
Alien Breed: Impact - Time to Party! - Complete 3 Co-op Assault multi-player games. Seems self-explanatory.
Team Fortress 2 - Escape the Heat - Jump into a pool of refreshing water while on fire. 2fort. Lurk near bridge. Hope to god there's a pyro on the enemy team.
Dwarfs!? - Sharpshooter - Score 2500 in the Carnival minigame. Go into skirmisher and select Carnival. From there, it's up to you.
Find your friends - Link your Facebook Profile in Steam. A lot of us just made a crappy Facebook, linked it and then deleted it.

Magicka - Swedish Summer - Experience Rain and/or Blizzard 20 times during one Versus match to unlock a much needed treat. Start Versus mode and get a willing friend along (check if I'm online, I'll happily help you out) because there's no way you'd get this during a normal fight.
HOARD - Fireth of July - Cause 20 groups of fireworks to go off in a Hoard Mode level. Let a knight get a princess to a castle 20 times on the Hoard mode. Pretty much horribly hard.
Jolly Rover - Bon Voyage - Send a shipmate on a trip to remember. This is about five minutes into the game where you made the cook slip out of the boat. I had to redo it to get the achievement.
Super Meat Boy - Medium Rare - Spend as little time in hell as possible. Get A+ on all levels in Hell. Or get a save file for it. I used this because screw that.
Garshasp: The Monster Slayer - Cool'em in Summer - Throw ten enemies in the water while on the raft. Does anyone even have this game?

Defense Grid: The Awakening - Out of Bullets - Beat all 5 'Out of Bullets' challenge modes without using Gun or Cannon towers. The last two levels are immensely hard. Guide.. Please note this guy EXTENSIVELY USES BACKSPACE and doesn't restart or anything. It's horribly irritating to see your plan go to shit because you missed him doing backspace and then you go over a checkpoint, but eh.
Men of War: Assault Squad - Grand Master of Barbecue - Complete the steam summer sale bonus mission! Apparently it's pretty easy.
Flight Control HD - Nice Shades - Open all umbrellas simultaneously on the Stunt airfield. Pretty hard. You have to fly planes over the umbrellas on the stunt level (it's the one with the gates and it opens at 200 airplanes landed) in order to open them, but they close after not too long. I couldn't do it and my girlfriend ended up doing it for me. :p
The Polynomial - Sunburn - Use the sun to kill an enemy. Guide.
A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda - It's Getting too hot - Trick a Bomber to hit and destroy a Zytron Walker (LA). Sounds pretty self-explanatory to me.

A.R.E.S.: The third level is very good for this, since there's those machines that produce 6 bombers at a time. Get to the room where there's one of those machines and a Walker right beneath it, shoot the Walker for a bit, then lure the bombers into it.

Iron Grip: Warlord - Everything Under the Sun - Purchase every available weapon and upgrade. I have no idea if this is within a single game or what, but it seems like it is, once again, self explanatory.
Write home - Recommend a game to your friends. Just recommend TF2 or something.

Mount & Blade: Warband - Lady Of The Lake - As female character, give a companion character a great sword. I gave him an actual Great Sword (called that in game) so I can't do any science on whether it works with different combos etc. I do know that you have to camp for about a week afterwards for it to register.
Zombie Driver - Summer Hot Dog - Make a barbecue of 20 zombie dogs in a single slaughter mode match. Use the first level. I tried using The Park (which is absolutely filled with dogs) but flamethrowers refused to spawn. Did it on the first level and got it in one go.
Fortix 2 - Harvester - Collect 50 sunflowers on Greemland or Classic levels. Presumably self-explanatory since I can't find a guide.
Homefront - Freedom - Complete chapter 2 in the Single Player Campaign. Follow the campaign.
Trine - Summer Dip - Stay Underwater for 40 sec without taking damage. First possible in the 4th level "The Crystal Caverns" (or whatever it's called). You need to switch between characters to get this achievement, each one has about 20 seconds of max air so just switch through until you get it.
Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter - Swimming instructor - Drown an enemy. You can do this on the first level. Here's a guide how.
Say Cheese - Post a screenshot. You have to take and then upload a screenshot to your profile. Pretty easy.

AI War: Fleet Command - Heat Wave Brown out - Accumulate a net energy balance of 300,000. I think you have to play a decent amount to get this done. I'm trying to learn how to play right now but it isn't going very well. :|

The AI war one is easy to get if you are only concerned with the achievment. Start a host new game, select all available home worlds and give yourself a +300% bonus. This gives you a ridiculous ammount of starting resources wich will put you over the required ammount. It can take a couple of minutes wait before the achievment will register.

Monday Night Combat - Bayheimer - Cool guys don't look at explosions: This achievement can be earned by killing an enemy pro with explosion damage with your back turned. When I did it, it was unexplained!
Beat Hazard - Striptease - Strip the turrets off 2 bosses and keep them alive for 60s. I did this on Boss Rush because none of my songs were making bosses. You just have to strip them of their weapons then be careful not to destroy them.
Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood - Chicken BBQ - Kill 25 chickens. I have no idea. All I know is that someone on my friend's list had this recommended as "literally the worst game I've ever played".
Nation Red - Molotov Grill - Start a game in Strategic Mode and pick only four perks: Fire Starter, Friendly Fire, Remote Detonator and Molotov, then detonate 12 Molotov grenades in one game. Seems pretty self explanatory.
And Yet It Moves - Bat-Wetter - Heat wave in the cave! Cool down a sweating bat with a drop of water in The Great Escape. Just hit a bat with a water droplet on the fourth level. Pretty easy but you'll be stuck awhile trying to hit together two objects that move in the same direction. Guide.
Play time - Play a free game demo. For some reason Beat Hazard registered this, but someone else suggested Solar 2.

Killing Floor - The Big Hunt - Kill a circus Scrake with a crossbow. Scrakes are the big (monkey) guys with the chainsaws. They start appearing a couple of waves in and shouldn't be too hard on the easiest mode.
Atom Zombie Smasher - Dog Days - Rescue at least 100 people in July. This DOES count killing all the zombies within a level. Just wait until July, go to a level 1 zone and kill all the zombies. If you kill too many civilians (over 25) you will not get the achievement, though. Make sure all mods and modifiers are turned off before you do this, because otherwise achievements don't get earned.
Left 4 Dead 2 - Stream Crosser - Survive the Cold Stream campaign on any difficulty. Complete it (without dying, I think). My advice is to keep a melee weapon handy, have an adrenaline shot on hand in chapter 4 (ready for the VERY LONG run to the helicopter) and abandon your team mates once chapter 4 starts. Even on easy this was difficult due to the overpowering amounts of infected this campaign throws at you.
RUSH - Solar Flare - Complete the Solar Flare level. It's a leave over from the Potato Sack stuff. Click the sun to start the level. Here's a full video showing how to do it.
Spiral Knights - Star-Spangled Bomber - Get Cracking! Add the Firecracker bomb to your arsenal. You can get the bomb from the bazaar for 3000 cash, buy it (or lend it) off another player for a small bit of money or try to craft it yourself. All will grant the achievement.
Guardians of Graxia - Fire Sale - Hit at least three enemy units simultaneously using either the Hell Storm or Wild Fire spell cards. Make a skirmish game, hope to draw either of these cards and then wait for the enemy to clump together before you hit them with it. Still counts if they're shielded and it does no damage.
BIT.TRIP RUNNER - Roastin' yer Marshmallows - Bump into a fire in a Bonus Challenge. Not played it, but it sounds self-explanatory.

BIT.TRIP RUNNER: Do the first level, collect all the gold bars. Then refuse to jump in the ensuing bonus level.

Show time - Post your own video in Steam Eliminated due to not being possible.

Sanctum - Beach Party - Start the party on Glade. You have to go through all the maps before you unlock Glade and then find the hidden "beach party" area. Video guide.
AudioSurf - Sunburn - Turn 21 blocks red with a single paint. I did this on Canon in D Minor by Pachelbel on easy. I arranged the blocks in alternating columns of blue / yellow and then hit the red paint when I found one.
Counter-Strike: Source - Happy Camper - Get 2 kills standing in the same spot with a zoomed sniper rifle. Apparently works on bots. Thank you Metalax for that downright amazing tip. How the hell did Valve expect you to get that achievement otherwise?
Tidalis - Summer Swimming Hole - Create A Combo At Least 6 Deep. I have no idea, but it sounds self-explanatory.
Metal Drift - Road Trip Rampage - Achieve 5 kills on each map. Sounds self-explanatory.
The Wonderful End of the World - Wonderful Big Bladder - Reset the game, and complete the entire thing in one sitting. You do NOT have to get A+ on all levels, merely A in order to unlock Metropolis. I did this in about two hours. Good luck.
Poker Night at the Inventory - Summer of 69 - Win a hand with a 6 card and a 9 card of any suit. The cards don't have to be in your hand. I won on a flush with 6 and 9 in it, but it sounds (although it's horribly ambiguous) that you could win on any suit combination.
Fate of the World - Catch Some Rays - Hooked up space solar power arrays by 2110. Thread with some tips and a save file if you need it.
Movie Night - Download and watch a trailer in Steam. Simple enough. Go on pretty much any game page, click "Watch trailers" on the middle-right hand side and click the button in the bottom right of the movie window. Voila!

Universe Sandbox - Heat Wave - Plunge the Earth into the Sun. Quick guide.
Worms Reloaded - Summer of 69 - Take exactly 31 damage from a worm with 100 health. Pretty simple but a quick guide if you need it.
Doc Clock: The Toasted Sandwich of Time - Hot And Bothered - Fall into a pit of lava 3 times. Simple enough, methinks. Save file here.. Sadly this game is boring as hell on the early levels and the lava isn't until the later ones.
1... 2... 3... KICK IT! (Drop That Beat Like an Ugly Baby) - I Beat City 15 - Get 75%+ of the maximum score AND 50,000+ points with any song on City 15. Pretty hard. Make sure to move through the center of all the pillar things or at least get kisses on both of them and hit the plates. Try not to pick a level with those spinny bar things. Update: Steam is wrong on this. You only need 50% completion.
Galcon Fusion - Pool Party - Win 5 Rounds in Multi-player Billiards. Seems simple enough.
Winter Voices - Summer's Gone, But A Lot Goes On - Achieve a 100% success in the third encounter of the prologue (departure of the father), after walking on the 'Summer Scent'. Pretty simple, but a quick guide thread.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Retribution - Summer Slaying - Kill 5 Banshees in the Bloodied Colloseum. Simple enough, ladies and gents.
Day of Defeat: Source - Beat the Heat - Win a round on each of the winter themed maps: Dod_Kalt and Dod_Colmar. Straightforward as hell.
Wish upon a star - Build a wishlist of 10 items. It's straightforward!
Show time - Post your own video in Steam. Apparently this means link your account to YouTube, put a video on YouTube then put it on Steam. Or link your account to YouTube and upload a TF2 video there.

Post Apocalyptic Mayhem - Summer Jam - Adjust a Tuning Slider and save the new setting. Just adjust the game's audio settings. Video guide in case you really are that stupid. :p
X3: Terran Conflict - Solar Shock Wave - Destroy a Solar Power Plant. Self explanatory.
Portal 2 - Talent Show - Never lose a cube in Chamber 6 of the Mobility Gels co-op course. Seems pretty self explanatory, but a video guide, anyway.
Hydrophobia: Prophecy - Put another shrimp on the barby - Player must use the environment to take down 3 Malthusians with fire! Self explanatory.
Nimbus - Precision BBQ- Bump the meat onto the grill on World 2-4! Video guide.
Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter - Treasure diving - Find a secret under water. Go on the first level of the South America campaign, turn around, dive into the water and find the rocket launcher down there. Video guide..
Altitude - Electric Firefighter - Interrupt an enemy's afterburners with Loopy's EMP grenade. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Turba - Summer Block Party - In one combo, clear at least 5 blocks of each color, 2 silver blocks and 1 bomb block. Those red blocks are real party animals. Easiest way to get it is to follow this exactly.
Honest feedback - Post a comment on a friend's screenshot. Feel free to add me and post on mine.

Try and note that by this point in time, a lot of the achievements have been for the games you can get unlockables for with your tickets. It's more than likely that by the end of the week, EVERY one of those games will have the achievements in at least one day. I also suspect Valve has given a lot of weight to including Potato Sack games in the competition thing, so keep an eye on them if you have them.

Haven't tried it yet(still at work) but at the very least you can probably get a bunch of easy ones like the "Join this steam group" achievement.  If it is anything like the portal ARG sales then there will probably be one easy one that doesn't even require owning a game to complete every day.

Yeah, judging by the last time Valve did an event like this (the Treasure Hunt), there will be one 'free' event per day. There appear to be 11 days (including today), so that's an easy 11 tickets. Each prize costs 3 tickets, so if you get lucky and own even one of the games required for a daily event (or can spare, say $2 for one of the cheap indie games), you've got 4 prizes, easy.


...I'm just a bit shocked by the difficulty of some of these achievements. DoWII's achievement was trivial (seriously, Last Stand + Lord General = achievement by wave 5). Lead and Gold's achievement appears impossible if you're not playing with a friend in an empty server trying for the achievement. Toki Tori's objective is moderately challenging, too. The difficulty of the achievements seems to be all over the place.

Yes that one was a pain in the arse to get. What you need to do is to take advantage of the checkpoints (the blue mesh). First fall down, go for maximum hugs and kisses then crash just before the next check point. On your second run grab any scoreplates and if you have to make a choice between two plates crash again after grabbing one and grab the other on the next trip. Repeat all the way down, making sure to land in the red circle for a 8000 point bonus.

The BIT.TRIP.BEAT one isn't too hard.

It is similar to the treasure hunt previously in that you send them a postcard with the required details for each summer games achievment that you can't complete yourself for entry in the draw. Of course this is of no use if you are primarily doing the games for the dlc.

I'm going to hold off on getting any of the dlc prizes until near the end of the 10 days so I know how many tickets I have to work with.

In the end, I didn't do that. (Except for that bit with the double 2 Grand plates.) I just ended up managing to get as many kisses as possible with few crashes and got 36,000 points.
