Please wait a bit, I'm finishing writing up my own game, and I'll solve that. How much time woud it take for a 10,000 Military JD?

5 years, same as US. A little less actually, since I believe the EU has more labs and a propulsion specialist.

Ran the numbers, 3.8 years.

Pretty considerable. Military gear is, on average, equivalent to civilian gear ten times its size. So it'd be similar to designing and building a 100,000-ton civilian jumpdrive. A 10,000-ton military vessel is roughly a light cruiser (at least in the nomenclature that I usually use).

Well, I'll need to desing something new. However, I've spent the last 5-6 hours doing Aurora stuff now, so I'm going to take a break.

Oh, and here is my take: Let's Play Aurora Multiforums:International Jihad in Space!

I hope you won't sue me for copyright infrigement.

Sorry, I tried waiting, but I think this updated has waited way too long already and I don't want this LP to die. I'll use my best judgment, working on an update now.

January 1st, 2027

Nihon-Koku

As part of an international agreement, Japan shares its jump drive technology with all other nations.

People's Republic of China

China also fulfills its part of the agreement and shares its jump technology.

As China has a massive stockpile of fuel, they temporarily close their fuel refineries until a new source of Sorium is found.

Construction begins on two of the new Yinchuan frigates.

Using the shared technology, China begins developing a jump drive for its military ships.

European Union

Europe begins research on a jump drive capable of transporting civilian ships of up to 17,000 tons.

Mindful of the fuel situation, Europe also finalizes designs for the Exxon Valdez class Tanker and begins retooling the frigate shipyards to construct them.

Code: [Select]
Exxon Valdez class Tanker    3,350 tons     100 Crew     186.8 BP      TCS 67  TH 125  EM 0

Fuel Capacity 500,000 Litres    Range 2984.0 billion km   (18518 days at full power)

This design is classed as a Commercial Vessel for maintenance purposes

United States of America

America halts its fuel refining to conserve sorium.

Due to fuel concerns and the remoteness of the Oort cloud with current engine tech, the US recalls both of its geological survey fleets. The freighter group is also recalled once it finishes unloading mines on Ariel.

Scientists in America begin working on their own version of a jump drive.

America further subsidizes its single commercial shipping line, though with no offworld colonies it is not currently building ships.

January 26th

A European survey ship locates a third jump point, just inside the orbit of Neptune.

February 21st

Unrest begins to rise on Japan's Martian colony due to overcrowded conditions. Due to the low population, the civilian lines have not found it profitable to ship infrastructure to the colony.

March 29th

The US completes development of humanity's first FTL jump drive, and begins immediate production of a jump capable scout ship. Their scientists begin work on jump drive improvements with an eye towards a jump drive for the George Washington class Carriers.

One of the new shipyards begins immediate retooling to build the class, which is not expected to interfere with its expansion.

April 16th

The European Union locates a 4th jump point, somewhat beyond the orbit of Neptune. The US and China have both located 2 jump points, and Japan has not yet attempted a survey.

April 21st

China completes research into their own jump drive, and designs a ship to make use of it. Their scientists begin work on increased factory production.

No shipyard is currently tasked to build the Hegu, though one shipyard will complete expansion to the required size in a year and a half.

A shipyard in Europe finishes retooling for the Exxon Valdez and begins construction of one of the tankers.

May 1st

A European espionage group steals designs for the American boat bay technology.

May 6th

European Scientists develop a 17,000 ton commercial jump drive, and resume work on increased range lasers.  As the only shipyard capable of building ships large enough to use the drive is currently busy, design of a ship is delayed while the smaller commercial yard is expanded to the required size.

May 26th

Europe completes its gravitational survey of the Sol system. A total of four jump points have been found. The two Audacious ships return to earth for overhaul and await further orders.

July 4th

Japan completes 2 more Mirai class heavy cruisers.

August 14th

A Japanese espionage group manages to steal Active Grav Sensor Strength 16 technology from the European Union.

China completes production of a first run of 3000 Sunfire anti-missile missiles.

August 19th

Europe completes adapting its commercial yard for the OSR-232 class fuel harvester. Construction immediately begins on two of the monstrous ships.

October 5th

An American espionage team steals a blueprint for the Chinese Lightning Submissile. The blueprint is detailed enough that they can now produce the missile, despite not understanding the technology that it uses.

Japanese scientists develop better fire control technology, and begin using it to develop a fire contol capable of making use of their long range particle beam mk II.

October 10th

China completes its first two Yinchuan class Frigates. Two more begin construction.

November 20th

Japanese scientists finish designing a new fire control, and begin work on higher speed fire controls.

Meanwhile, the navy creates a refitted design of the Mirai cruiser. The shipyard begins retooling for the new upgrade.

November 25th

Chinese scientists complete research into construction rate 12. Lacking further instructions, they resume work on improving the range of meson weapons.

November 30th

Crisis strikes the European Union when Duranium stockpiles are exhausted. Without the crucial mineral, nearly all European production is limited to working at the speed duranium is extracted. Though still common in Earth's crust, many duranium deposits have been exhausted, and Europe has already consumed its stockpile of 1,751 tons of Duranium since January 1st.

European Union mines are currently producing 2,815 tons of Duranium a year on Earth, 59 tons on Mercury, 235 tons on Asteroid #81, and 96 tons on Deimos, all of which is being sent to Earth by mass driver.

Analysts recommend the nation either purchase stockpiles from another power or review production and begin rationing the crucial TNE.

Espionage agents from China steal technical specifications for the USA's Eagle class survey craft.

December 5th

Europe completes construction of an Exxon Valdez class tanker.

December 10th

Chinese scientists develop longer range Meson weapons. They begin work on further improving factory construction rate.

December 20th

European scientists complete research into longer range, near ultraviolet lasers. The lab time is given to a team attempting to develop improved fuel refining techniques.

December 30th

Astrogeologists warn that mineral supplies on Asteroid #81, never high to begin with, are being rapidly mined out. Vendarite and Neutronium deposits were exhausted this year, and Corbomite and Tritanium deposits are estimated to last only another year at the current rate of extraction.

A note on the duranium shortage.

It took me by surprise; at the end of each year I check for any mineral <1000 for all nations, and give a warning; obviously for duranium this number should be higher. For this update, I listed the amount of duranium every nation has, in case people want to trade. I might make that a permanent thing, or I might go back to doing screenshots of the minerals screen (in which case, anyone know a good image host for LPs?)

Has the US's infrastructure been built yet? I'm not seeing it on Earth, but the new construction factories were further down the queue.

Also, I hate spies

The construction orders I had for this turn were:

"Ok, current production (as per the last update) is: 39.97 Convert mine to automated, 38.82 Construction Factories
Assuming that the queue went through in the proper order, next is to build 10 research labs. Please add an order for another 100 auto mines after the labs are finished."

Neither the mines nor factories are finished yet.

Edit: Opps, there is 300 infrastructure on Earth which I forgot to list in the status report.

A-HA! (sorry)

You had me worried there, Bremen  :P

So, how much infrastructure would be needed to support 1 mil colonists on Mars? What about Mercury or Venus?

New orders, edited orders, and pretty formatting:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I have no idea what's happening with the jump drives and stuff, so i'm relying on Sheb or Thranx to decide about that.

I think it would be useful to purchase Pulse Engines, what technologies (or group of technologies) does the EU have that is approximately equal in RP value to Nuclear Pulse Engines and its prerequisite reactor?

Also related to buying stuff, the PRC has the largest stockpile of duranium, so maybe a deal could be worked out in which:

PRC --> EU:  Duranium, Nuclear Pulse Engines

EU --> PRC: Technology (specifics to be discussed)

Uh, just as advice, you might want to consider some of those orders. Hyperion doesn't even have Duranium, and continuing to build more factories while you don't even have the duranium the ones you have seems odd. Ship construction is also a big consumer of duranium.

Since you just recently started helping out with the EU, I'd like to state that I've asked people not just cut and paste orders from the previous turn. For instance, are you sure you want 12 more poleaxes?
