Sheb- I have an Idea for your new LP Aurora Game that I feel would make the game very interesting and solve the "alien AI sucks problem" what if you ran the game on the Bay 12 forums as one world say Earth with multiple human races playing a game much like this one. And then have the other forum be located in a different system as an alien race with multiple alien factions on their home world (or we could be the aliens and they be the humans or both aliens it doesn't matter). This would create an interesting political situation and I feel create and exiting and truly interesting game.

The workload to run the game would be huge.

What Azkul said. I think having two nations on different bodies will already provide challenge. If it doesn't, I'll play as a alien nation.

True,
Well sign me up for the head of the Intelligence/Diplomatic Agency for the Empire played on this forum

Brenen-I also plan to continue to play the EU on this game.

So one nation will be based on Earth and the other on Mars or will they be based in different systems?

Can't you just shoot multiple buoys?
You have to have a delivery vehicle for the buoys, otherwise you're just dropping them off in space wherever the ship is. True, I suppose the ship could visit each planet and drop off a buoy, but if you're going to the trouble of transiting to the planet, it's more efficient to just stay in orbit and use shipboard sensors. The main advantage of buoys is safety and strategic speed. You can (once buoys are feasible) just pop into a system, fire sensor buoys at all the major planets, then pop out and head to another system. If there's anything nasty waiting for you, you just lose a couple of cheap sensors as opposed to an entire ship.

At this stage, to get 350 survey points for a planet the sensor buoy has to be like size 20+. To get it on a missile with any kind of decent range, the total package would be like a size 45-50 missile. Advances in all the fields I mention in the report (fuel efficiency is also a minor help) decrease the total size needed. But it'll be a good long while before the fire-and-forget survey buoys are a workable option.

Yeah, I think having multiple nations in different systems is a bad idea, since it might be months (of real time, I mean) before they meet up, by which time the LP may have died off due to nothing happening.

Would you like me to join the US if Sirus does not post orders?

Yes, better that than deleting them. It's up to you though (and three sides might be more unstable, after all).

Still, if you only want three sides, I'd suggest removing Japan.

Actually, one of the major reasons we have no war is that there is nothing to gain yet. Even if you claimed all the holdings of a nations outside Earth, you would only gain an handful of automated mine.

I am not going to delete Japan instead of the US just because you like the US better. As a matter of fact, I'd be as happy to delete the US as Japan.

And I expected the early fights to be over planetary claims, which is why the whole "the solar system belongs to everyone!" resolution kind of annoyed me. It was pretty obvious to me that that pretty much ensured a boring start.

Everybody ridicules me when I mention things are going to be boring because of peace and now you guys realize I was right. Now I'm not saying you should all be trying to kill each other, I'm just saying it would be nice if you guys at least disagreed on something.

I suggest being more aggressive about claiming what's yours if you have an advantage over your foes. Right now this probably won't be anything, but in the future, steal unguarded or poorly guarded systems with few citizens early on before they become big, well guarded systems with tons of unruly citizens.

Or, and this is valid too, try to avoid fighting each other and mainly try to steal alien planets. Just agreeing to do this would make me super content about what's going to happen in the future. Just think about what you want to do (and what you tell everyone else you want to do!)

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Fighting the AI in Aurora is about as boring as you can get.

Also, if you're not going to play, I'd appreciate it if you lay off the criticism of those who are.

I agree that the lack of war at the moment is simply that it'd cost too much at the moment for too little gain, though I reckon there's quite a bit more tension than is being openly shown. One thing I'm looking forward to most is how many systems are connected to Sol. If we have 4 decent systems connected we might end up with this situation continuing for a while, less will mean there'll be some conflict rather quickly, and more might lead to fighting over the remaining systems.

Also, so many mentions of deleting me while I was asleep.  :o And I could have sworn the US had another player besides Sirus, but I can't remember who/what happened to them.

I also expected one nation to race for jump drives and look for riches in other systems before the other nations could compete for them (probably Japan, since they were best set up for it. And Mirai cruisers would be brutal at holding a jump point). I think the players are just too determined to work together in peace :P

Is there an up to date roster of players? I've scanned the first few pages and not seen one.

I'd quite like to join, just want to see which countries are in need of more players before I make a choice.
