The stats for Illustrious and Broadsword aren't mentioned anywhere in the thread.
I don't know if they were accidentally edited out of a post or just never posted, but it would be useful to know them.
ship stats

Thanks, maybe you could update the ship stats once every x decades?

Bremen: I realise my orders have been minimal lately but nothing major has happened for a while (and the mines and such I've ordered ages ago still aren't done, so there's no great point in expanding more just yet). There isn't really much to do except keep research on track and watch everyone else cautiously, it'll change once I finish the next level of jump efficiency.

I'll join for the EU

Welcome to the team,

Sheb--sorry for being absent these last few days the department of the the company I work for has been going through our yearly audit by the DOD so I have been working very long days

Yes I think that turning the the Gelleo into a Museum would be a good idea as it would inspire many young citizens to enlist in our Militarily Academy

Anyway suggestion for further edits of the EU's orders

Edit: After thinking about I made a few more changes, also can we name our Divisions after the NATO phonetic alphabet: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, Lima, .... it sounds good and as the EU is mostly a member of NATO it works for role-playing reasons as well

Second Edit: As deposits of Sorium on earth are running extremely low I think that building more refineries would not be all that helpful in the short run and a complete waste of resources in the long run

I was at the 8th of September when power abruptly died (on a clear day - very annoying) and I lost the update. Shall I replay from the backup (and use the new EU orders) or just try and wing 2/3rds of an update? :P

My vote is for replying from the backup but I will consent to what ever the majority wants.
Also glad to hear that you are saving the game  8)

Restarting from backup would be probably better.

I hate it when that happens!

My vote is for you to do whatever is more convenient! Don't want to see you getting burnt out replaying old turns!

Truth be told I agree with Knave I am really enjoying this game and would not want to see you get burnt out :-\

Azkul and Sheb-- Now that we are almost ready to leave the Solar System we should have a serious discussion about our long-term plans such as do we want to focus on moving our power-base off earth as soon as possible or leave Earth as the center of our empire and expand evenly in all directions

Also I propose that we replace the Jump drive Newton Class Exploration ship with more weapons and armor and use are currently unused 10,000 tone commercial shipyard to construct a Mule class support ship containing a jump drive and spare fuel and maintenance supplies this set up should allow our exploration fleet to operate independently for as much as a decade assuming that Newton Class Exploration ship has a lot of Engineering sections

Well, I have some good news and bad news.

Turns out I forgot to backup for this year... last backup I have is Jan 1 2025. Good news is, I realized I can easily recreate the update from the events log. Should be much quicker this way as well.

January 1st, 2026

European Union

With fuel at a premium, Europe recalls the Galileo from surveying the Oort Cloud.

A squadron of the outdated Broadsword gunboats is dispatched to Mercury, where they can be maintained by the small European colony.

The largest military shipyard begins expansion, with it planned to eventually be capable of building vessels as large as the USA's fleet carriers. The gunboat yard begins retooling to resume production of the Poleaxe class.

Nihon-Koku

Japan begins construction on two new Mirai class heavy cruisers, in order to keep pace with the military buildup of Europe and the US. They also begin work on a third freighter to expedite colonization efforts.

People's Republic of China

With a long waiting list for its freighters, China begins contracting some of its shipping to the private sector.

China's massive industrial sector swings into action, constructing massive stockpiles of the sunfire anti-missile missile.

Scientists go to work developing a new escort to use the Sunfire, but it will require time; technology and schematics must be developed for missile storage instead of the single shot launchers used by the Jin class.

United States of America

Searching for a good source of mercassium and vendarite, American planners settle on the moon Ariel and make plans to ship out automated mines to the new colony.

February 2nd

A US survey fighter locates a second jump point, this one between the orbits of Uranus and Neptune.

February 24th

Europe's gunboat yards finish preparations to build Poleaxe ships. Three are immediately laid down, and production begins on an additional slipway for the shipyard.

March 24th

Europe completes its portion of jump drive research, and distributes the technology to the other nations. Its scientists begin work on near ultraviolet lasers.

May 16th

Europe locates the asteroid belt jump point.

May 21st

China finishes developing systems for a new fast escort ship, the Yinchuan. Thanks to their new engine technology, it is the fastest non-fighter craft in any nation's service. A military shipyard begins retooling to build the craft immediately.

Code: [Select]
Yinchuan class Frigate    2,500 tons     250 Crew     264 BP      TCS 50  TH 160  EM 0

This design is classed as a Military Vessel for maintenance purposes

June 3rd

The US completes a new military training academy.

July 8th

Europe completes 3 new Poleaxe class gunboats, and a fourth begins immediate construction.

July 13th

With freighters no longer delivering infrastructure, the Chinese colonists on Mars begin to protest the cramped conditions.

July 18th

Europe finishes a new naval shipyard, and begins using it to construct Magazine class support gunboats.

August 18th

Japan finishes upgrading a shipyard to 6,000 tons, and begins adding a second slipway to the yard.

September 3rd

The US completes designs for an orbital sorium harvester, and shares the technology with Europe. US scientists begin working on improving their terraforming rate.

Europe immediately creates designs for a ship using the new technology and starts retooling its largest shipyard.

Code: [Select]
OSR-232 class Fuel Harvester    60,750 tons     741 Crew     1034.4 BP      TCS 1215  TH 438  EM 0

Fuel Capacity 600,000 Litres    Range 197.3 billion km   (6341 days at full power)

This design is classed as a Commercial Vessel for maintenance purposes

September 8th

Japan finishes construction of a new Kobayashi Maru class freighter.

China finishes construction of a new naval shipyard.

September 29th

Geologists report that all sources of Sorium on Earth have been exhausted. The mineral is essential for fuel production, but scientists warn that raw sorium will also be required for the still theoretical jump drive, so it may be advisable to maintain a reserve.

October 10th

Chinese shipyards are ready to begin producing the Yinchuan class.

October 15th

European scientists develop faster mining methods; they begin work on a new technique for faster fuel refining.

Scientists in Japan complete research into their portion of jump drive technology; all the necessary technologies have now been discovered, but no single nation possesses them all. Japanese scientists begin work on further improvements to jump drive technology.

October 20th

With their government contracts over, civilian freighters make deliveries to the Chinese colony on Mars, and unrest immediately begins to fall.

European freighters deliver fresh infrastructure to Mercury, but they are too little to keep up with fresh colonists from civilian transports, and unreset begins to rise. Civilian freighters rush to meet the demand.

November 11th

Complaints peter out from the European Mercury colony as there is now enough space for everyone thanks to civilian shipments.

A Japanese espionage group manages to steal the blueprints for the European Warlock class Battlecruiser.

December 26th

The European Gunboat shipyard completes expansion to 4 slipways.

Shut down the US's refineries! *panic mode*

We must maintain a supply of sorium for whatever use.

More orders tomorrow.

EDIT: I'm also encountering a slight change of plans for my jump ship. Throwing together a mock-up, it turns out that I don't need a 10,000 ton jump ship, just a jump drive capable of supporting a 10k ton carrier. Using a smaller jump drive (rated to about 3,000 tons) gave me an error message. So...yeah.  :-\

No, to jump a 10,000 ton ship the jumpship has to have a 10,000 ton jump drive *and* be 10,000 tons. It's weird, but that's how it works. Think of it as the jump ship tears space a new one and then the other ships follow through the hole; the hole has to be as big as the following ships.

Well, we should shift our fuel production to fuel harvester ASAP. We'll also need a tanker.

Finally, could everyone share the Jump Technologies?
