I put the non-aggression pact in the orders as a way of expressing my desire for it and to discuss it, not an absolute order, wasn't sure where to put it.

I feel that our relations are quite cordial at the moment, with all three other major nations. I don't believe any other formal agreement is needed right now other, no?

Think of it as a message of mutual respect and friendship.

Oh yeah...forgot Google translate doesn't do pinyin.

LOL...Google doesn't do a great backtranslation anyways, even from characters. It should be translated as "The fate of the People's Republic of China is written in the stars!"

Once we get extrasolar, I might have to craft up some maps and screenshots of the People's Glorious Star Republic, a la Fractal Mapper, Astrosynthesis, and Universe Sandbox. I've been doing some of that for one of my own Aurora games, and it's a lot of fun to be able to get down inside a favorite system and see it modeled in 3D.

Also, could somebody post a list of who's in which faction? It's hard to keep track.

Funny how the EU and PRC are popular. With three times as much brains as our rivals, I'd be damned if we don't end up ruling the galaxy!

FWIW, I'd like to see the PRC work (at some point in the future) on microwave weapons. This is in keeping with Chinese principles of military strategy, particulary the notion of "fighting with the orthodox and winning with the unorthodox". In practical terms, it means using simple, conventional weapons to do the bulk of the damage (missiles certainly fit the bill in Aurora) but using disruptive surprises like microwave attacks, ambush drones, cloaking, etc. to cause havoc with the enemy's organization, thus allowing your orthodox weapons to have maximum effect.

I kind of like the idea of using microwaves (in some form--fast drones, passive mines, FAC's, etc.) to scramble the enemy's electronics just in time to nullify their point-defenses as a cluster missile strike arrives in the vicinity. After all, you can't shoot down what you can't target.

As far as quantity vs. quality, I think the PRC should definitely fall on the quantity end of the spectrum.

Perhaps I missed it, but do we have an exploration strategy in place yet? Obviously, surveying most of the Sol system is high priority, but with sufficient minerals, we might want to skip the asteroid belt and strike out for extrasolar territory before the rest can lay claim.

No, there's four sides, and people are welcome to join whatever side they want.

DemonofWrath: nothing personal, but your orders lately have been kind of... minimal. It's not winning Japan any benefits.

The stats for Illustrious and Broadsword aren't mentioned anywhere in the thread.
I don't know if they were accidentally edited out of a post or just never posted, but it would be useful to know them.

Different earth nations competing for control, however.
Aliens are unlikely to play a big part.

Here are the original ship stats. I guess I could keep an updated listing, but there's already so much to keep track of.

Yes, and once the AI sends its 50th unarmed gate constructor ship through a heavily defended jump point you'll find out why I decided it was better to pit the players against each other than try to do something co-op :P
