Before I set my orders this round I've got a bunch of stuff I want clarified.

What are the minerals on asteroid #81, and what's my deficit?

What levels of jump efficiency/squad size (actually are those unlocked yet?), fire control range/speed rating, fuel efficiency, capacitors and reactor/engine would I be looking at? There's about a dozen techs that I could use, barely even hitting some of the construction/production stuff, so I want to see which options are easy to knock off.

Asteroid #81 is pretty rich; 20k+ Duranium, 15+ Corundium, and then small (<2k) deposits of Neutronium, Corbomite, Tritanium, Vendarite, and Gallicite. Japan ran a budget surplus of 85 in December, including 10.4 from the civilian mining colony.

Japan (and everyone else) has no jump techs, so choices are jump radius 50k (1k), Max squadron size 3 (2k), and drive efficiency 3 (2k). Japan can research Fire control range 32k (8k), fire control speed 3k (4k), fuel efficiency 3 (4k), Capacitor recharge 3 (4k), and gas-cooled fast reactor (6k).

Oh wow that asteroid is AWESOME (I was disappointed with the lack of corundium, problem solved). And woo I'm making profit!!!

I'm sorry for the mess up about X-Ray lasers. In my mind, they were just after Visible light, and I half remembered having them on the Poleaxe.

Now, I see we have no Power and Propulsion Scientists. So it'll be hard for us to fullfill our comitment for a JD. Would another nation agree to research our part of the project for a mix of technologies and money?

As far as I'm aware, NO ONE has power/propulsion scientists. It's gonna be a pain in the ass take a while, no matter who does it :p

EDIT: The US might be willing to deal. What sort of techs/money are you offering?

All nations have asteroid 81 surveyed, I just haven't been typing up asteroid minerals because there's so many of them. If someone wants an asteroid mining colony, just give me some specifics (like "look for an asteroid with good deposits of Duranium and Mercassium") and I'll do my best.

I've got orders from everyone, but Europe's were labelled "first draft", so I'll wait a bit before the next turn.

Edit: Working on an update now, though for future reference can I ask that people avoid orders like "continue doing x", since the whole point of the template is that I only have one place to look at for orders. Similarly, cutting/pasting orders from the previous year leaves me unsure if I'm supposed to do things again. Please write clear orders for the current situation.

I'd like to take a moment and ask for opinions on the updates. What would you like to see in the updates? What is there that doesn't really need mentioning (for example, I stopped mentioning civilian construction about midway through).

Any other changes in format or tone you'd like to see?

Hmm, one suggestion I might make would be for the shipyards summary, state if any are being upgraded/retooled and an est. for completion perhaps? Bit of extra work I suppose, but gives us a nice clear picture of when things will be ready.

Is the Luda being refit currently?

I could mention builds and modifications in the shipyard summary, I think. The Luda is done refitting and is surveying, though it hasn't yet found the asteroid belt jump point.

Opps, Typo. 481 -> 381. Fixed.

Queues are another thing I could do, or more likely what's currently in production (since as mentioned I prefer fresh orders each update to avoid miscommunications). Currently the US queue is:

50% naval shipyard (33% done)
50% 381 convert mines to automated
50% military academy (queued)
50% 50 construction factories (queued)

To begin with I am very happy with the detail and effort being put into the reports

As our fuel supplies are alarmingly low I would like to propose to the US that the US gives us Sodium Extraction Modules in exchange we will design and create the following ship and begin production using our large commercial shipyard and transfer one of the first two that we make to the US

I agree with the deal. However I think the best course for now is to step out of the freighting business. We have civies and wealth, let them do the transporting. We should send more automines to Asteroid 81, as well as Deimos and Io.

Also, I oppose the creation of a new Grav Gunboat. We should refit the Gallileo as the state of the art in survey. Later on, I'd like to see is fitted with a Jump Engine, so that we'd have the first ship able to survey entire new systems on its own.

P.S. Also, I think we should be building automine, not converting them from manned mine. We'll need manned mine on earth, and on Mercury once we've got enough workers there.
