I think my illustrious equals in the EU misinterpreted my offer. Yes, I'm offering co-colonization rights on Mercury (because there's no way we'll just pack up and leave :P ), but it's in return for terraforming vessels which would be transferred to US control, to use as we please. I was under the impression that at least one of you guys had developed ship-bound terraforming modules. Installations built in factories require population to run, which requires (a lot of) infrastructure and colony ships.

As far as I am concerned the Resources on Mercury are not worth the cost giving the US a fleet of terraformers.
The EU would happy to participate in the Terraforming of Mercury and even share tech related to Terraforming but any Terraforming vessals built by the EU will have to remain under EU control.
Thus I agree with Sheb

P.S. I am glad that you are all willing to agree to the Thranx directive in one game I built a gate to a Star-swarm inhabited system....

Welp, can't please everyone. The US thanks it's fellows for their time, and hopes we can come to an agreement at a later date.

((OOC: That's why I was so shocked when Sheb offered 10 terraformers per nation, rather than one XD))

EDIT: Brendan, please arrange the transport of automated mines to Charon as well. Also, how are Mercury's stockpiles looking?

It's Bremen, and the stockpiles are currently at 239 corundium and everything else less in proportion.

I do hope you'll keep up when you have time, this thread doesn't seem to have a lot of participants.

Slight edit of the EU's orders.

Spoiler: Orders (click to show/hide)

Do we have a colony ship yet?

Also, we do not wish to go to war with the US, but will defend our colonies and our right (as well as the PRC's and Japan's) to colonize our solar system.

The EU has a colony ship design, if that's what you're asking. The CS Horizons, but the only shipyard that could build it is currently producing a 5th freighter.

If the Horizons and Outlander were designed so that if the ship was tooled to produce Horizons it could also produce Outlanders so we should be able to make both given that shipyard has two slips

This is not the case.

When did I say I was gonna infringe on your rights?  :o

We all have interests in the system. If we respect each others boundaries, war will be avoided.
Respect is, of course, a two-way street.

Those are kind of strange orders. I have some questions.

Well, our right to colonize Mercury for starters. Just because the US were the first to field a geosurvey craft (by ingenious use of fighters) doesn't mean they have to right to claim half of the system's minerals as their own.

But as I said, we do not want war, and we'll be happy to call back our ships if you let us build on Mercury.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

@ Sheb: We weren't just the first to survey, we were the first to actually stake a claim and get mining. Somehow I doubt very much that you'd appreciate it if I started dropping colonists on Mars without contributing to the terraforming efforts!
Yet that is not my plan, since you've put effort into making Mars your own.

I really don't appreciate your heavy-handed efforts to provoke tension between us, both by spying on a nation which poses no harm to you and by offering the "choice" between having armed escorts drop your operations on Mercury without compromise or simply standing aside and letting you do so anyway. That is not a choice, that is simple extortion.
