I'm glad to see the positive interest so far, however I have a request.

It's harder than I expected to correlate orders from several different people, all phrasing things in their own way. I'm afraid I'm going to miss something. So I'd like orders to be delivered using a template.

Code: [Select]
Space orders: Any orders involving moving ships around or performing tasks. Surveys, warfare, moving mines to a colony, etc.

Production orders: Production for factories, shipyards, and ground force training facilities. Basically anything you build; also scrapping ships or equipment. Remember you can expand shipyards and add slipways as well, even while they build other ships.

Research orders: Priorities for research, if any changes; also new ship designs.

Other orders: diplomacy, claiming planets, etc

I'll take orders from the most recent posting before I start an update. This way people can tack on additional orders to those given by another poster, if they wish. Everyone's been cooperative so far, so hopefully we wont have to worry about contrary orders.

You don't need to redo orders for the current update (though you're welcome to), but after tonight I'd like to start with this format.

Can I join in with the EU?

Anyway, I think we need more troops. Converting our Armor Divisions to Heavy Assault would be good. Do we have training facilities?

Glad to have you on our team, I also second the plan to begin converting our Armor Divisions to Heavy Assault. We currently have one training
facilities and as soon as the PRC finishes converting 100 of our CI into factories we can begin the constructing more of them.

P.S. I like the template idea

April 8th

European Union

In light of the US's rapid offworld expansion, the EU makes a number of changes. The terraforming research program is cancelled and all labs are directed towards the turret gearing research.

A new variation of the Victory class is designed. The Warlock class battlecruiser foregoes close in weaponry for a larger number of missile launchers. The changes are minor, and the shipyard will be ready to begin conversions by June.

In a historic deal, the EU hires China to aid it the conversion of some of its conventional industry.

Realizes its ground forces are as out of date as its industry, the EU begins upgrading its tank forces to trans-newtonian technology. The first unit is scheduled to finish training in June of 2021.

Nihon-koku

Japan changes course on its research, aiming for longer range particle beams as well as improved research laboratories.

Plans are announced for the Kongo class Geological Survey Vessel. Smaller and faster than the EU's Galileo, the ships survey sensors are slower and less powerful. The first of the class will be launched in August of 2021.

Code: [Select]
Kongo class Geological Survey Vessel    3,500 tons     126 Crew     325.5 BP      TCS 70  TH 200  EM 0

People's Republic of China

China begins work on the conversion of European industry, a welcome opportunity to aid in their income troubles. It is estimated the construction will finish by late July.

United States of America

The USA claims possession of Mercury and its mineral resources.

Due to the dissapointing results of the railcannon project, the US changes its strategy and pursues laser weapons.

With an eye towards the prize of Mercury, the US begins constructing mass drivers alongside its automated mines.

May 3rd

The 1st Survey Fleet reports the discovery of mineral deposits on Venus. The USS Liberty and her escorts set course for Mars.

US scientists discover a way to generate an infrared laser beam. They begin work on the techniques for turning this into a small scale weapon

June 9th

Maintenance on the 1st Survey Fleet is completed, and it embarks on the long voyage to Jupiter.

June 19th

The European Union completes retooling its naval yard for Warlocks, and begins to convert existing Victory class ships to the new design. They also begin missile production in preparation of the new ship's larger magazines. Each conversion is expected to require three months. Plans are under consideration to add an additional slipway.

July 19th

The 1st Survey fleet reports that Jupiter has large reserves of Sorium, though the technology to extract it does not currently exist

Code: [Select]
Jupiter
Sorium: 4,205,253 (1)

The People's Republic of China completes its conversion of industry for the EU and receives 1,500 megacredits. The PRC resumes construction of Financial Centres.

August 4th

The European Union completes the modernization of 100 mines. They begin converting more factories.

August 15th

The 1st Survey Fleet reports mineral deposits on Jupiter's moon Io.

Code: [Select]
Io
Duranium: 123,450 (1)
Neutronium: 6,387 (.3)
Boronide: 45,628 (1)
Sorium: 14,257 (.5)
Corundium: 3,484 (.4)

The USA completes construction of 2 Trekker class freighters, and the shipyards stand ready to build more.

The European Union also completes construction of 2 Outlander class Frigates.

(OOC: Every time the US builds a new fighter I get alerts from all nations when they detect it. Anyone know a way to get this not to pause the game? It's something that can be lived with, though.)

Hell yeah, more easily accessible TNEs  8)

Space orders: 1st Survey Fleet will continue as previously ordered. Set up a second carrier/escort group with a Raptor, and have them begin surveying the asteroid belt, returning to Earth as needed.

Production orders: Begin two more Trekkers, and have them deliver Auto Mines to Venus when finished. One more pair of Trekkers can be built after that, assuming mineral reserves hold out.

Research orders: N/A

Other orders: Set colonies on Venus, Mars, Deimos, and Io.

(OOC: No idea, sorry. I've never bothered with fighters very much, and this is my first multiplayer Aurora game  :-\ )

I don't want to filter out new alien ship detected messages :P. And even if I did, I don't think it would stop the pauses, just the message showing up.

Also, Japan and China will be finishing their freighters soon too, if they have any special orders for them.

Question!

Does each civ have it's own civilian corporation?

In that case, please design a colony ship. Should be capable of transporting at least 100k civvies, maybe 200k. Call it the Oregon class, but don't build any yet.

The EU high command would like to express our wholehearted gratitude for
our dedicated staff of technocrats for so successfully carrying out our orders.
We also approve of the plan to add another slipway for our Warlock class Battlecruiser.

My Proposal for our next move is as follows
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Following the benefits of working with the PRC to convert our CI into factories I have another
proposal for the consideration of PRC and my fellow members of the EU High Command
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Bremen--I hate to add to your work load but would appreciate a screen shot of the summery screen for the EU and
one for the minerals

As I've stated several times, this game doesn't use inexperienced fleet rules. I'm also not assigning individual commanders to ships.

Your shared research lab pool idea isn't possible either.

I'll be giving everyone end of year summaries as well, which should have the information you want.

Edit: I know the last join thread wanted to do crazy stuff like create a UN to handle planetary defense, but we all saw what happened with that. Lets try to avoid anything fancy for this game, less work for me.

Well, I'll say the survey results have been very interesting, rather different from my own games (Deimos being resource rich is quite stunning, and Venus for me normally has huge amounts of low-access minerals).

So here's the orders for Japan
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also, what's my current wealth/income?

I may have done a little playing god when setting up the game :P. But only for Sol, after that everyone's on their own. Both Mars and Titan are habitable (though Titan is more expensive). If the EU beats you to Mars, would you like to colonize Titan instead, or co-inhabit?

Wealth/income will be covered in a yearly summary. Right now it's not much different then it was at the start.

I've no problem with co-inhabiting Mars (the EU said they're fine with it so I'm taking them up on it), I may be a little pickier with Titan but for now that's no issue, I'll cover that in more detail once I get some infrastructure built (when is my first freighter due to be finished by the way?).
