I should probably redo ground units... unless you want China to conquer everything, since starting units scale based on population.
Remember you can set the base ground unit strength by granting technology, so you could set that to whatever you feel is appropriate in number and strength of units for each nation.

Also: Shit... we have no good missile/kinetic scientist. We really want our research to be within the scientist's specialization as you get a massive bonus for that. What do you think we should research Sirus? The railgun project doesn't really fit any of our good lab guys.

We have a good CP scientist. Let's focus on boosting our factory and mining output. We could also develop modules for a terraforming vessel. Once we get a MK researcher, we can focus on railguns again.

EDIT: If you'd prefer working on weapons, I say that we emulate China and develop mesons. They can be almost as good as railguns for both point defense and offense.

EDITEDIT: Must be off to bed, it is after midnight here. Forsaken, feel free to glance over my orders and change anything you feel is needed. We secret shadow government types gotta work together, after all  :)

We really do need a good weapon system for the Spruance. Its railcannons are the suck. Mesons aren't the answer though, unless we packed them in large numbers. They only do one damage per shot. Yes they bypass armor, but you'd still need quite a few to torch a ship unless you get a lucky shot. We may want to just go with lasers as a main weapon system... they have good range for beam weapons. Thoughts?

If you really want to go with mesons we can, I suppose. I really wish we had a scientist to match our initial technology direction though.

@forsaken: I was assuming you'd need the survey info to mine a planet (I've actually never tried mining before a survey in my own games), certainly for other systems would be good, my main motive for the solar system was so I could keep the unarmed survey craft out of the inner solar system and thus out of harms way.

Could I join up with YodaMaster for the good of the PRC? :)

Maybe also see the PRC's top scientists so we know what we'll be good at expanding into technologically?

EDIT: Can I also get more specs on the multimissile PRC uses? I have a feeling like the missile boat would get tooled by the enemy ships fairly easily with it's tiny missile compliment.

As for claiming bodies I imagine it would be whoever is willing and can enforce their claim. Sure you can claim a place but others might still try to colonize it unless you're ready for a shooting match perhaps.

Lasers would be the best alternative, and it's the only beam weapon comparable to the railcannon anyway. I mostly wanted mesons for their...other purpose <<;
Still, the protected zone will be around for another 30 years, so we have plenty of time to research all the weapons we want anyway.

If we really want to get a kinetic weapon scientist, perhaps we should upgrade our academy? That will give us more officers of all kinds.

Logistics/ground 30% (25)
Missiles/kinetic 25% (25)
Construction/protection 25% (10)
Sensors and Fire Control 20% (25)

Come to think of it, I haven't tried it, but I was under the impression each nation could create a colony on the same planet (whether they will let you is a different story). This makes claiming a planet a purely diplomatic action; and you don't need survey information to create a colony as far as I know.

Defensive Systems 10% (15)

The Heaven's Fury multimissile moves at 7,300 km/s, with a maximum range of 39 million km. At a range of 1.5 million km, it releases its payload of 5 Lightning submissiles; each moves at 11,400 km/s, has a range of 1.6 million km, and a warhead strength of 4. It has a 57% chance of striking a target moving at 2km/s.

So while a Chinese missile boat only gets one shot, it's a hell of a shot. If they reloaded with only multimissiles, that would be 50 submissiles (15 more than the entire magazine capacity of a Victory class) for a theoretical 200 damage; not considering point defense, that's probably enough to kill anything except maybe a Mirai, and only because the Mirai is fast enough to dodge most of them, but it would still take a lot of damage.

Hmmm... that's a mixed bag there, the C/P guy is awesome, and the S/FC guy is very good as well, but the other two are kinda useless with how few labs I've got for now. Knowing that, the only modification I want to make is giving the C/P guy 2 labs for improving my research rate.

Ouch, China is really behind both in labs and scientists! Interesting to see defensive specialist as the main scientist though. Maybe upgrading armour after the missile/engines should be a priority. Cloaking tech would also be interesting way down the line to go with the sub motif.

The multimissiles are interesting to say the least! I haven't really experimented with such large missiles on a ship before, but it does seem like one hell of an alpha strike.


- Financial Centres should be a priority to prevent operating at a loss for too much longer. If we're going to leverage our huge industrial might our economy will have to be brought into the TN era kicking and screaming!

While the EU is not ready sign a full blown alliance we would like to propose the PRC the following deal
We would like to "rent" some of the PRC's industrial capability.

We would like to "rent" some of the PRC's industrial capability.
The Terms of the deal are

We will transfer 100 Conventional Industry; 1000 Duranium; 500 Tritanium; 500 Vendraite; and 2000 mega-credits
to the PRC
The PRC will then use the minerals and credits to convert the Conventional Industry into factories
 and then ship it back to us
In exchange we will pay the PRC 1500 mega  credits for their services

This seems like a fairly good deal for both parties involved. It'll let you get on your feet faster and give us more funding so we can begin work on our freighters/colony ships.

Barring objections, I would approve this.

5 Low Tech Armor division

Japan:

Our bureaucrats are drawing up the necessary paper work as we speak

Bremen-- The EU would like use our unused 10,000 commercial shipyard to create a civilian geological survey vessel
