I've no problem with co-inhabiting Mars (the EU said they're fine with it so I'm taking them up on it), I may be a little pickier with Titan but for now that's no issue, I'll cover that in more detail once I get some infrastructure built (when is my first freighter due to be finished by the way?).

Beginning of October. It's faster than the others, though.

The EU would like to repeat that it does not have any problem co-inhabiting Mars. As a long term goal we plan to terraform Mars and
would be interested in finding a partner in the project (each nation will build and operate our terraforming installations separately).

Your shared research lab pool idea isn't possible either.
Edit: I know the last join thread wanted to do crazy stuff like create a UN to handle planetary defense, but we all saw what happened with that. Lets try to avoid anything fancy for this game, less work for me.

I understand, would the project be acceptable if we just split the labs and whent home with two labs apiece instead of having a joint research institute project?

And just cooperated on construction? Sure, if China agrees.

Thanks,

Also I agree that including inexperienced fleet rules complicates a game to much for multiplayer.

Just to clear what I meant by a joint research pool is that the PRC would keep the labs but only use them for
projects that both the EU and PRC agreed on.
both the EU and the PRC would add a line to their order chart that says something like
Confucian foundation orders:
at the beginning of each project you would simply SM half the cost of the research cost from the EU to the PRC
and then when completed SM the research to the EU.

I was not suggesting that you create a separate empire or any thing that would greatly complicate the game
mechanics. However I have played aurora for years and understand how hard and complex the game can get
and appreciate the work that you are putting in and understand if feel like things like this are to complex.

P.S. are you willing to use the SM to set diplomacy as long as their is a role-playing event to explain the change?
for example with you SM the EU's diplomacy toward the PRC to allow for a friendly rating?

Everyone is already at friendly. I was considering seeing if boosting it to ally would remove the pause on sighting new ships, too.

It wont, trust me.

Also if you don't like the pauses now wait until a NPR runs into a percursers or starswarm  :D

Edit: If you really hate the pauses try deleting the deep space tracking systems, turn off maintenance and move everyone's ships to some random
asteroid, as no one is at war it wont change the game play and as no one will detect new ships the game wont pause

The pauses aren't a huge problem; right now the USA is building a Kestrel every 12 days or so.

Out of curiosity, how many Kestrels do we currently have? Enough for all existing carriers, plus the one under construction?

I was mistaken earlier; I said the USA had finished Kestrels for the fifth carrier because I got a message that the USA had completed Kestrel production, but it turns out it gives a message for each one built.

Normally a carrier has 25 kestrels, but a Raptor replaces 3 of them. So the five carriers currently require 122 Kestrels. The USA has 113. The sixth carrier isn't due for over a year, though, so the US could probably have a complete fighter force ready for it when it completes.

This brings up the interesting point that technically a fighter in Earth orbit doesn't need a carrier; it can refuel and maintain itself on Earth. I don't see the point of fighterbase PDCs some people build :P

Now that you mention it, that is kinda odd. I'm assuming that the PDCs are shipped to colony worlds where they may not have maintenance facilities.

Also, what's the status of the Mercury mining operation? Have the freighters even passed the moon yet?  :P

This is incorrect assuming that you are playing the latest version of aurora maintenance facilities will not maintain fighters so fighters will
begin falling apart as soon as they are built if they are not transfered to a hanger. Before this version however people mostly built hangers in PDCs for role playing purposes

You still need hangars to reload box launcher, don't you? Also, you save a lot of minerals by having them in hangar bays.

I've slightly edited the orders for the EU. Changes are in bold.

PRC

The PRC is interested in a joint research effort with the EU. We wish to stabilize our economy further before committing our industry for over a year to build the 4 labs though. (Perhaps after the end of year summary when I have a better idea of how our financial boost is working out?)

Couple Questions:

- How is our research going?

- How is our budget faring?

Space Orders:
Send newly constructed freighter to Mars when complete and infrastructure is set.

Production orders:
- Produce 25 infrastructure for Freighter to Transport to Mars
- Convert Low Tech Infantry to Assault and Mobile Infantry
- Construct 1 Ground Force Training Facility
- Continue with Financial Centres for now

Research orders:
- Not exactly sure what's being researched currently, but I imagine it still has a while to be completed.
- Our armour looks paper thin so perhaps the next level of armour if we complete engines/missiles?

Other orders:
- Set Colony on Mars

*checks* Whoops. Better get those puppies docked before they start suffering critical maintenance failures. Luckily this does not appear to be the case for the EU's FACs.

You can reload box launchers at a suitable maintenance facility, but it takes longer.

Researching is plodding along, but new engines are always expensive. Both new reactors and longer range mesons aren't scheduled to finish until 2023ish. As for the budget, it's doing quite well, thanks to the deal with the EU. 12,913 megacredits.

I now have orders from everyone, so I'll work on the next update.

ooo, that's good news! The People of China shall rejoice knowing our economy is secure! (for now)
