Family: Novus' father and mother were two architects, who built the family fortune by being contracted to build many of the buildings of a new hive world. They retired there, and it was there that the Dark Eldar killed them both.
Backstory: Novus was 18 when his parents were killed, and when he saw his parents dead, he felt great anger. He pondered what to do about it in the estate that belonged to his family, now reduced to him alone, and decided that the Guard were incapable of protecting his family. The only group protecting the people, and the Imperium, were the Arbitrators.
He joined the Arbites, and with his education, and drive, he was quickly promoted. Reports from the time show he had little care about safety, instead relishing the chance to bring death to the enemies of the Emperor.
