[38c] Problems with ramps
« on: April 26, 2008, 11:50:00 pm »

I've found two problems with ramps related to changing or removing the bottom part of the ramp.

1.  If you have a setup like this:

code:

^^^
^*^
^^^

where the * is a single wall surrounded by upward ramps that are not connected to anything else, and designate the * itself to be dug out as an upward ramp, when a dwarf digs the * out, there is a very noticeable FPS hit, then you end up with a single upward ramp where the * used to be even though there is no longer anything connected on the upper z-level.

2.  If an upward ramp square is filled with water, and the water freezes into an ice wall, the downward ramp square on the z-level above becomes open space rather than an ice floor.

I think both of these have been reported before, I know for certain the first one has and Toady claims intended behavior (or more accurately, behavior which wasn't necessarily intended, but he likes, so he won't fix).

Re: [38c] Problems with ramps (and new 40d11 post)

I'd start a new topic, but I'd like to point out I searched and this was the closest I came to what I was looking for...

Anything to do with ramps that I do, removing building etc. seems to cause lag or a momentary freeze.

Is there any way to speed up the process of using ramps to clear the level above it?

Version is 40d11
