Need help modding Civ for adventure mode
« on: June 28, 2011, 04:38:34 pm »

In my version of DF (0.31.25), Elfs/Goblins/Dwarfs don't make successful forts/markets like humans currently do. I've done quite a bit of research, which seemed to always end in a dead-end.

My question is, is what do you mod spicifically in the entity_default.txt to either make towns identical to humans (Magma wiki, under the search "Adventure mode" then at the contents of "World Selection", said to look at "... see the talk page under 'Dwarven Fortresses.'" to mod borked civilizations. Which I cannot seem to find that talk page at all.) Or to flat out fix them, so they function right.

I don't mind spending some time/deleting saves to have it finally function right. I just can't seem to find any place to walk me through what to mod, so I can FINALLY see other civilizations in adventure mode.

Another issue (that is Offtopic, and not such a big issue) is Dungeon Master's TAME_EXOTICS. I can't seem to get a Dungeon master in my fortress mode to tame the cool Roc/Dragon/Hydra that I capture in a cage. :(. If you know how to fix this too, it would be MUCH appreciated.

Many thanks!

Simply change all DEFAULT_SITE_TYPEs in the entity RAWs to City, and you're good to go on that end.

Even when modded to show up, dungeon masters don't work. Just remove pet_exotic, I guess?

In order to tame any exotic creature, you need to replace its [PET_EXOTIC] tag with the [PET] tag.

My advice is to just use the NoExotic tool that you can find in this thread http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=59411.0 because it will correct every critter in the game, so whenever you get a cool creature you don't have to hunt it down one at a time to fix.
