I lost the save afterwards. To bad, that was promising.

I lost the glacial home of my macedwarf in a similar manner, as well as a modded human hamlet defended by a mighty trio of halberdiers...

I've never really had a badass dwarf, however I did have a war elephant that killed three demons back when elephants could actually keep themselves alive.

Though all of my previous forts had axedwarves as #1 in kills, my current commander & top killer, Dishmab Shootwondered-Vesselbrain is a macedwarf with over 318.  After decades of useless artifacts, the RNG blessed the fort with an artifact lead mace, which has helped.  Probably her best moment was during a human siege.

Dishmab and her troops scattered the enemy, but there was one soldier quite a distance away on horseback that she was determined to catch.  Dishmab gave chase and finally caught up with the human before he could flee off the map.  I can just imagine what it would look like, a dwarf with stubby little legs, weighed down by a lead mace and steel armor, catching up to a horse :D.  On a side note, when my fort became the Mountainhome, it was revealed that Dishmab was the King's daughter!

Kogsak Lustrouscraft the Failed Purge, and her artifact adamantine battleaxe, Mortalfortune the Armory of Requiring.

One of the starting seven chosen for her excellent starting stats she led the military of Stormrack (pretty much became the military) for her entire life. She racked up well over 5000 kills against the civilizations of the fortress defense mod before dying of old age on the eve of the fortress's centennial while single-handedly fighting the bulk of a recent siege trapped from fleeing in one of the processing halls.

She even took a ridiculously over-powered side-adventure in the name of dwarven vengeance and 'diplomacy.'

edit; admittedly many of her kills in the first half of her life were crippled by a 7z drop.

Over double the kills of the legendary Tholtig Cryptbrain is pretty badass!

The honor in my fort goes to an infant. My militia commander gave birth to an infant in the middle of leading a dodging demonstration.

A month later, she carried the kid into battle against some undead, and a necromancer decloaked beside her. The necromancer lashed out at the infant.

Who dodged.

Remember he was born during a dodging demonstration? He was paying attention. That is one badass infant.

I have so far executed three dwarves by means of impalement ... for bringing cats into my fortress.

I'm only on my second fort, so I haven't had much badassery yet, save for a freakin' cheese maker that tantrumed. He was in my militia as a wrestler at the time, and killed two dwarves in his rage. When I went to look at the dead dwarves' personality stuff, both of them were missing their upper bodies. What the fuck.

One, conrats on the fatal tantrum. One rite of passage down, many to go.

Two: "His/Her upper body is gone" is just the game's way of saying 'yes, they are very dead.' Doesn't mean he punched them in half or something.

Well, that would explain why the combat log didn't mention it. What's weird is that one of the skeletons (one of my dwarves decided to throw a party, so I had to dump the bodies in the miasma containment room for the time being) was listed as a partial skeleton. The moderate badassery of the cheese maker doesnt end there, though. after I convicted him of the murders, everyone went to tell the expedition leader, while he just looted the bodies (strangely, the victims were both married to each other). So the sheriffmilitia captain arrives to beat the crap out of him. Twice. At the end, he had a broken arm that was gouged open, so he went to the hospital. Only problem with that is the first victim was my only surgeon, so he never got treated. After tantruming in his sleep a few times, he went insane and starved to death.

One day goblins attacked my glacial fortress. It was first siege so there was only 30-40 gobos but also I had only one squad but in bronze armors and a bit trained. I locked the fortress and sent my (not so brave) soldiers to fight. Half died immediately, other half was running away and one was sleeping (and this was only group of 14 gobos). They couldn't even kill one pest. After all my military died I noticed that my legendary miner is running on surface so I made him military commander and sent him to my water wheels, where he could hide. But moment after this he rushed at goblins and changed lot of them into bloody pulp with his copper pickaxe. That day I made him best armor, pickaxe (sadly bronze) and room in frotress. In next siege half of my military died but my brave commander saved fortress again (by annihilating half of gobos). He was always first when I sent my squad somewhere. But one day he died when fighting yeti. :(

My first glacial fort had a miner as its first commander. Also my first ever first hand witnessing of combined arms tactics when the miners charged after the marksdwarves fired their first volley and even managed to be slow enough for a second to be loosed, giving me the impression that they actually knew what they were doing!

Not a dwarf, but a fire imp. And a child at that.

Said forgotten beast breathed fire and was therefore immune to fire imps' flames.

Well, I think I just developed my first badass Dwarf.

A soldier in my current Fortress, a member of the Surface Grunts, Dodok Avuzathel Bisoltoltot Linon, Axedwarf.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Her kills.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Her weapon.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

All but one of her relatives who were in the military are dead - which means she likely witnessed their deaths, as the two surface militia much of the time fight side-by-side along side the elite archer unit.  Oh, and both her pet dogs are dead.  She also has been wounded and has nothing but a scar to show for it.
She also had to put a few fellow Dwarfs down.  Mercy killing is sometimes the best when they go nuts or bonkers.

If my other troops would become more like her, a hardened soldier, things would go so much better.
