World Difficulty: 8The Aglaia takes off once more, taking you to another hilltop. A few kilometers in the distance, you see a city, a lot of smoke and steam belching from the iron chimneys. Just outside the ship is a path, and a hundred meters beyond it is a small army camp. A few robots, at first sight powered by a furnace on their back, stand guard.
Not having the best of luck with this game am I, heh
Random can be a heartless bitch.
Ok, I will attempt to draw the life force out of my wood, and combine the pieces together to grow a tree.
Craft tree from 6 pieces of wood
Attempt: 50
Quality: 72 + 42
Quantity: 27 (1)You take the wood blocks and place them in a rough tree-shape. Under your hands, the blocks start growing again, and soon, they meet each other and blend seamlessly. Then they start growing branches and roots, and you place the tree upright as it grows taller and wider. You start feeling weaker and weaker while doing so, and when blood-red leaves pop out of the wood you realize you've used your own lifeforce to craft the tree, as none was left in the blocks. It doesn't matter, a good night's rest will do miracles, and you put the tree in a borrowed pot of earth.
+50 Necroplanter XP
-6 Pieces of Wood (I: 7 each)
+1 Necrotic Tree (I: 114)Why dont I cash in that song, to regain my lost influence, and then some, and then.. Lets collect some ambient emotion.
You sell the song, and head out, looking for emotion.
Attempt: 30+3This land is full of feelings. There have been massive wars, and glorious golden ages, these roads have been used for centuries by traders, diplomats and armies alike. This time, however, is one of war, and only war, and from what you can tell, the greatest, longest, most brutal and terrifying ever. You decide to go for these emotions, the ones of battle, as they are the strongest, both because of their intensity and because they didn't have time to decay yet. Yo open your mental wards to the horrors of war.
A wave of sorrow, anger and fear washes over you. You see men, good men, running for their lives, only to be blown to pieces by the next round of mortar fire. You see hardened veterans in the infirmary, crying like babies when they realize they're crippled for the rest of their lives. You see mothers waiting at the city gates, trying to keep their children calm, while with every passing minute the chance grows they'll never see daddy again. You look in the eyes of once brave warriors, hear them scream as some terrible weapon bores in their flesh.
You can't do this. You really can't. This is too much.
You close your mind, and walk back, trying to think of daisies and butterflies. It doesn't really work.
-1 Angry Rock Song (I: 169)
+169 Influence
+15 Gathering XPCombine the two newest robots.
Attempt: 95 + 7. Aww, come on!
Quality: (80 + 17 + 21) * 2
Quantity: 1You see a massive gun, and an equally giant drill. You see engines that can produce thousands of horsepowers of brute force, yet can be set to yield only enough to lift a single feather. You see unimaginably complex cortexes of a mysterious and powerful alloy, that allows controlling these machines by simply thinking of them. You see thousands of gears, springs, and levers, some as small as needle, some half the size of the robot.
But most importantly, you see what these machines
could be.
You get to work.
Seventeen hours of nonstop tinkering, fifteen vats of welding fuel, three broken screwdrivers, thirty-two detail blueprints, nine test runs, and a smashed thumb later, you are finally finished. Honestly, you can't remember what you did. But before you stands what must be your second masterpiece. The robot stands on four legs, with its upper torso raised, not unlike a mythical centaur. Its left and right hand are delicate and robust at the same time, perfectly capable of whatever task you would want them to, be it calligraphy or wrecking cars. Its head, although not intelligent, certainly acts that way, capable of such bodily language as raising eyebrows or smirking. On its left side is a holster for the massive shield, which you reinforced and enlarged, but the icing on the cake, so to say, is the right-hand weapon.
A gun.
That shoots steam-powered drills.Yeah, you're that awesome. You take a drop of the magical processing alloy from your vest, and place it on your workbench. Never know what it's good for.
+95 Robotics XP (level up!)
-1 Driller Robot (I: 17)
-1 Robot Shield Gunner (I: 21)
+1 Robot Centaur That Shoots Drills (I: 236)
+1 Magesteel Droplet (I: 10)Gather
Attempt: 13 + 1You start sneaking around the camp trying to find something interesting to gather. Outside one of the tents, you see a rack with several heavy hammers, sparkling with electricity. You don't know if it's magical or mechanical, but they are intriguing anyway. There are two small guys guarding the weapons, but you are fairly certain you can take them out if you remain stealthy. You don't want to attract the attention of the guard robots nearby.
Just as you are about to attack, you hear a loud beeping right behind you. The four robots from yesterday are standing in formation at your feet, signaling they're ready to move. You curse, as the optics of several guards turn towards the bush you've chosen as a hiding place, and you run. Luckily, the smaller robots seem quicker and more agile than the bigger guards, and you lose them in the forest. You make sure to switch them to 'off' instead of 'sleep' that night.
+7 Gather XPRepeat.
Attempt: 24 + 2You, too, decide to go back to the camp. This time, you spent some time reading 'Cloaking for dummies', and you are completely invisible when you enter the camp. you walk around for a bit, and nobody seems to notice you, so you approach one of the robots. Very carefully, you place a glass vial over one of his exhausts, and when you caught enough steam, you head back for the ship. You run, you skip, even, and when you come back at the ship, you proudly take the bottle out of your pocket. You almost start crying when you notice you forgot to close the bottle, and all the steam has dissipated into the air.
