ok. Fine. make it in to some superhard transparent nano-thingy. Maybe diamonds. Actualy it's probably diamonds, that's just a question of heat and pressure.

Note: I think the quantity rolls generate too much material too often. I'm thinking of dividing all quantities by 10, rounding up. This won't change the amount of influence you gain, of course, but it would severely lessen the amount of 'clutter' we'll have, and increase the amount of influence per item. Anyone opposed to this? Current inventories would be affected retroactively.

World difficulty: 79
A perfectly blue sky and an even bluer ocean merge at the horizon, though it is impossible to tell where one starts and the other ends. You can see a few species of fish near the surface, beyond that it is too dark to see anything.

Lets gather some water.
Attempt: 53
Quality: 19
Quantity: 25 - 19 = 6

You take a bucket from the cargo hold and scoop up some water. You think you took about 6 liters. You put the water in your quantum inventory device, return the bucket and take the rest of the day off.

Gather some more materials.
Attempt: 59
Quality: 38
Quantity: 96 - 38 = 58

Surfing around on the water, you notice some flotsam just floating around. Wait, scratch that. You notice a metric crapload of it. You take a whole bunch of rotten pieces of wood back with you to the ship.

Might as well try frying one fish to see if it's edible!
Attempt: 40 + 5
You put a fish in one of your trusted cooking pots. A magical flame sprouts from your left hand and you hold it under the pot. After only a few seconds, a thick plume of black smoke emerges from the pot and you quickly stop warming. When you take the fish out of the pot, a few threads of molten steel stick to it. You manage to save most of the fish, but the pot is molten beyond repair. You didn't even know you had that kind of power.

ok. Fine. make it in to some superhard transparent nano-thingy. Maybe diamonds. Actualy it's probably diamonds, that's just a question of heat and pressure.
Attempt: 14
You prepare a few hours for the difficult task that lies before you, meditating and practicing, so you can conjure all the strength you have. You will need it, diamonds require tons and tons of pressure. As soon as you feel confident that you can muster enough power, you take one of the wax cylinders in your hands and whisper the magical words that will make it compress. You don't need these words, of course, but they sound cool. The cylinder, under the increased pressure, rapidly starts to shrink. Soon, only a very tiny cylinder remains, but it is still not a diamond. Try as you might, you can not compress the cylinder into something else than a tiny version of itself. After a few hours, you get tired of the ordeal and clack your fingers. The cylinder pops back in its original shape.

Repeat once more.
Attempt: 51
Quality: 11
Quantity: 3 - 11 = 1

You decide to do it a bit differently this time, and start heating a small patch of water. It takes some time, as the ocean dissipates a lot of heat, but after a while, steam starts to rise
from the surface. Clean, pure, distilled water. After a few hours, you force the cloud in a flask and condensate it. It is a disappointingly little bit of water.

Criptmosdous is angry, and his arm still hurts. He spends the day grumbling in his bunk.

Geitng bored of this, I just flatten some wax out in a gigantic magically reinforced sheet, carve some turing complete circuitry onto it in standard notation, and unleash a population of magic sparks o follow the lines and bring it all to life. Once it's confirmed to be working I carefully fold it up so that it wont get damaged.

Also, I'd really like to trade with you peps for some more diverse materials.

Well, this took off quickly. XD Figures I'd notice the pm late. I'll catch up on the posts here probably later tonight, and then see what's up. Not sure if you still want me this round, or whatnot. But either way, I'm glad to see this type of forum game still has popularity. ^.^

Edit: actually I lied, decided to read this while I was at the family house today. So I'm all caught up. Interesting changes, the inventory cost thing seems very limiting, but I suppose it gives another way to get influence rather than just gaining it from actions themselves. If you'll still have me(I don't mind starting in world 2, was my own fault for being late), Here's a quick character sheet for the new rules as far as I understand them:

Name: Unekaru
Class: Base Elemental Magus
Bio: A human by birth, with a magical 'circut' in his body that makes him compatable with the magics of worlds. He is especially talented in forging magical items that revolve around one of the 7 major elements. The base four: Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, and the Advanced Three: Light, Dark, Nature. He also has a particular enjoyment of gemstones and crystaline structures.

If Criptfiend doesn't come back after a few nudges, I could still let you in, but that'd anger the people alreday on the waiting list. I'm afraid you'll have to wait for a while. I did the inventory cost because I didn't want anyone to claim a whole lot of resources just for 'possible later use'.

Understandable, it took me a week to realize this was here, I'll wait and just watch. :)

As to the inventory, that was controled by having personal inventory limits, they could only each have 10 things before they were full. Are personal inventories unlimited here then?

edit: Nevermind, you still have the limit. but either way, I'm just nitpicking rules. I should shut up and enjoy the game.
