Roguelikes are games that draw inspiration (usually gameplay and interface -wise) from the 1980's Dungeon Hacking game Rogue. The best known one is probably NetHack, but I think ADOM and Crawl are pretty popular (if not more popular) as well. (EDIT: I think NetHack has the most prominent Unicorns, if you're into them ^^)

http://thelist.roguelikedevelopment.org/
Want to know how I found that?

That list does however lack any detailed information about each game. I'd rather suggest this artice.

Now what sort of list of roguelikes is missing stonesoup?
I mean it has DF, but you would expect every list to include DF, ever, for anything, including the periodic table of elements.

It does not, technically, lack Stone Soup. It has Crawl, which basically means the game itself, not any specific version or branch. It should probably contain a separate mention or at least link to Stone soup.

After getting a hang of it, you'll probably bump into an Unicorn in the Gnomish mines sooner or later. Actually, it's even possible to ride an Unicorn, but don't expect to do that very soon or often.

Cataclysm is an apocalyptic survival roguelike, currently there's a discussion thread on these forums, the developer, Whales, has popped in and is actively communicating with the community.

Caves of Qud is another good one, has a thread on the forums too.

A great one is rogue survivor. A zombie apocolypse approach to the roguelike genre.

Incursion has unicorns, too. Orcs can devour their corpses for a charisma boost, iirc.
