Mushroom Kingdom Wars RTD: Turn 36: The Next Day
« Reply #872 on: October 10, 2011, 03:05:40 pm »

Turn 36

Location: Road to Aqua Resort
Time: Night
Weather: Cloudy
Light: None except the fire.

Turn Intro

The heroes prepare to properly sleep for the first time in a couple of days. It's probably better for them to just ignore this supernatural deformed freak that's joining them.

Turn Results

Bradley: Give club to Amadeus.

Err... that Author character sure is pretty strange to look at! You float over to Amadeus and hand him your Iron Club. He probably could use it more than you! You take a couple of swings in the air with your Frostknife before heading off to sleep.

Wait, you just remembered that you don't sleep. You float in the air behind the heroes in a guarding position. Time to get ready for another long night.

Oomph: Insult the author's everything.

You insult the Author verbosely.

The Author does not look amused.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You decided to get some sleep.

Zachary: Plan your route tomorrow according to the map.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It looks like, from here, there are two routes to your destination. The more direct one through the forest, which would only take a little while but might possibly pit you up against some strong forest hostiles, or the long way around the hills, which would be safer and not take THAT much longer than the other route. Ultimately it's up to you, since you have the map and could just lie about which way is safer/faster, but it might be better to take a team vote in the morning.

You offer to take shifts with Bradley and Oomph again, but it looks like Oomph's already headed to bed, Red is who even knows where and Bradley's got you covered. You try to get comfortable, and head to sleep.

Joe: Ponder the good old days when soldiers were REAL men.

Your sleepy mind conjures a crude image of the Good Old Days.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Yeah, honestly, things were never THAT good. Even before Bowser came along, there were regular Magikoopa sieges, and at least half the Kingdom had to be rebuilt once even during your relatively short lifetime! Those jerks controlling the Mushroom Kingdom from their high-thrones always considered war to be the ultimate solution to everything.

Magikoopa siege? WAR! Some mad sorceror decides to go loner and start raising up skeletons? WAR! Allied Kingdom cuts off trade routes? Negotiate with them. Nah, just kidding, WAR! And this isn't even getting into those pompous, holier-than-thou Beanbeans who clearly get off of riling up their allies in hopes of causing them to do something irresponsible. You didn't enlist as a soldier you because you wanted to punch people's faces in. That happened all the time even before you enlisted. You enlisted as a soldier to do some right in the Kingdom for once. And now that you're with these half-wits, perhaps it's finally your big chance to set a good example for the rest of the military. Maybe even the administration.

Oh well. Time to get some rest. Thinking about this stuff makes you angry. And being angry wears you out.

Amadeus: Equip the club and poke the Author with it.

You equip the Iron Club. Your MP decreases, but at least you have a reasonable weapon. You attempt to poke this Author fellow in the face with it. It sure was nice of Bragley to give you his spare weapon!

The Author makes the same face he made to Oomph, but to you. Which is to say, his regular face.

You hop in the camp fire, settle down on the firewood and try to get some rest.

Author: Get some rest.

Making all of these faces at unworthy original characters do not steal sure is hard work. You head to bed (which is to say, the ground), fully expecting to bring Red back sometime soon.

Player List

Spoiler: Oomph (Dwarmin) (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Zachary Jones (Zako) (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Joe (TherosPherae) (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Amadeus (Firelordsky) (click to show/hide)

Turn Outro

The campfire dims over the next few hours, and our Heroes drift off to sleep. Except for Bradley, who floats guard. However, the night remains pretty uneventful, and the Heroes sleep well.

When they wake up, Oomph complains about neck problems from sleeping on the flat ground, but they get up pretty quickly regardless. It's time to decide which path to take - the safe one or the fast one?

(It is pretty funny looking. I'll withhold an action until Zako has a chance to lie/tell the truth about the route. ^^^)

Serious, over the course of the last few turns I have been working on something hilarious and slightly on topic that you will appreciate.

Now that you're back I can add you in and take the jerk out.

Zachary shakes off the dirt and dust that gathered on him as he slept, and took out the map once more. He decided to tell the others the truth about both routes and let the group take a vote as a whole.

"Okay guys, for our route today, we have two choices. One, we can go through a forest. This is the shorter route, but we might meet powerful enemies in there. Two, we go around the forest and cut through some hills and such. It's not that much longer, but it is probably a lot safer. I say we should go through the hills. We need to be in the best condition possible if we are to get the star we are looking for!"

Tell the truth about both routes and vote for route two, the safer one.

(I think I'll refrain from asking, so it'll be a surprise. :3)

Bradley looked at the map from over Zach's shoulder. He had went through the human's equipment in the night to make sure he didn't have a vacuum, and upon confirmation that there was no sort of mechanical apparatuses whatsoever in his inventory, wasn't feeling quite so scared. Just... a bit nervous, still. He nodded, or rather bobbed slightly, when Zach said take the hills. "Um, y-yes. N-no need to get in over our h-heads," he said, reaching up to adjust his hat slightly.

Vote for the hills!

Trying a new art style with thick, black lines and well defined edges. Here's Piranha Forest Red. I made him a lot closer to the typical game style Koopa art (including lots of tiny feathers instead of two P-wings). Especially the proportions.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I probably won't be doing something this elaborate for every full-color piece because GOOD GOD that took so much longer to draw. But I for once like how it came out. The arms are a little wonky, especially the left one since it's slightly shorter (not intentional, I swear). I'm still getting used to tiny Koopa claws.

2/5 players posted! We still need Firelord, Theros and Dwarmin!

"Oomph koopa boots wearing out from walking!

Votes for Forest, the faster route.

We should go, unless you are all cowardly like chicken birds!"

*Oomph walks around in a circle flapping imaginary wings and making bawk bawk sounds*

Insult my allies, and vote for the Route 1, Forest!

Finally! A character sheet complaint that wasn't because of me screwing up!

Sorry bro, you're stuck with the no-bonus hammer. :P
