"Oh, well that simplifies matters. Sure, go grab it for me please, it's gonna come in handy in this dark."

Grab torch from helpful bradley and see if there is any other ways around. If theres no other way, walk up to the thwomp and talk to one, asking it why it's here and such.

Turn 44

Location: The Center (Aqua Resort)
Time: Afternoon
Weather: Shadowy
Light: Faint

Turn Actions

Oomph: Take a breather.

"Oomph know NNNGUH-rocks are lazy- they drop very fast but get up very slow, like Oomph after ladies night... who want volunteer first? Oomph needs breather." Oomph rested against one of the walls before the bridge for a moment. He concentrated, waved his club around, and casted a healing spell on himself. To his surprise, healing was much easier when not in the heat of battle. A warm light surrounded him, and he healed five damage. He was ready to take on the deathtrap. But first, he had an idea.

"Also, can ghost provide mushroom snack? Oomph trade useless not-a-weapon key, which is un-important to plot anyway." Oomph just knew Bradley was hoarding all those mushrooms for himself! Bradley was better with puzzles anyway, so Oomph offered to trade away to the key for one of them.

"OK," Bradley said, accepting the trade. He gave Oomph one of his red mushrooms and accepted the key in return.

Zachary: Get the light source.

"Hey Oomph, why don't you come have a rest under this torch here? It's nice and bright so you can see what's happening!" Zach said this, but he underestimated Oomph's meager intelligence, as Oomph was not going to fall for such a simple trick. Besides, even if he had, regular Koopa Troopas could swim. It would have been quite the fall, though!

Zach quickly considered his options for obtaining the light source. Bradley presented him with an idea.

"U-um, I could get that for you, if you w-want," said the ever-helpful ghost.

"Oh, well that simplifies matters. Sure, go grab it for me, please. It's gonna come in handy in this darkness." Zach was surprised that he hadn't already thought of this.

Bradley quickly retrieved the torch and handed it to Zachary, who took it upon himself to light the way through the dungeon.

Now it was Zach's turn to solve a problem. He knew that Oomph and Joe would probably go for the brute-force approach, so he walked up to - but not under - one of the Thwomps. It fell down in front of him, startling him. But he wouldn't be so easily distracted.

"So, giant Thwomp-looking guy... why are you here?" This approach was sure to work.

"NNNGUH!" The Thwomp rose up to the ceiling.

"Don't you want to do something with your life other than smash people into a fine powder?"

"NNNGUH!" The Thwomp hit the ground again, harder.

Zach already realized that his efforts weren't going anywhere. A darn shame. He studied the path for a few moments. He had to be careful when crossing such a bridge.

Bradley: Cheat death.

Bradley knew that he could easily evade this obstacle. He just flew around the side of the bridge, and before he knew it, he was looking across the bridge at Zach, Oomph and Amadeus. He could have gone on to the next room, but he stayed behind for a minute just to make sure his teammates crossed safely.

Joe: Go find yer team.

Joe didn't notice which way his teammates headed, but his intuition told him that they headed through the northwestern passageway. He walked across the remainder of the entrance hallway, felt his way through a darkened corridor and ended up in a grand kitchen with a crazy-looking white Shyguy in a chef's hat. The Shyguy was holding a large knife, and was surrounded by a faint purple/black aura. Joe readied his weapon.

The Shyguy jumped over a food-preparing table or two and advanced upon Joe. It was clear that whatever the shadow clone did to the Center was probably causing its inhabitants to be hostile. He could flee, but the Shyguy chef might follow him.

Amadeus: Completely bypass the Thwomps.

Amadeus considered briefly that you probably cannot put out living fire by merely smashing it... but, at the same time, he was not fully aware of the disadvantages of his newer, more humanoid and corporeal form. He decided to risk it anyway.

Thankfully, Amadeus did not have to worry about being smashed into ash or some such horrible fate, as he timed his passage to evade not one, not two, but all three Thwomps in quick succession. Amadeus waved at Oomph and Zach from across the bridge. There was no way they could top that.

Turn Outro

As Amadeus and Bradley proved, bypassing the Thwomps was not nearly as difficult as it first seemed. But Zach was not so sure that they were not just merely lucky. Meanwhile, Joe found himself caught up in a kitchen duel with a hostile food-prep servant Shy Guy. How would he overcome such a foe?

"Oomph feeling much better now...have smart...brain...idea!"

There was a subtle delicious smell like fried rice and pork as Oomphs brain worked out an amazing plan.

Action: Run the gauntlet of Thwomps. By jumping OVER them as they hit the ground!

Bradley cupped his hands(???) around his mouth. "Y-you c-c-can do this, guys!" he said slightly louder than he normal talked.

Cheer on my teammates!

Zachary knew that these guys were trouble, but he had an idea that may just work. Waiting until the thwomp came down again, he spoke to it again.

"The thwomp behind you said you can't crush even a fly and that he's harder than you ever will be."

Trick the thwomps into stomping on each other to simplifly the gauntlet to just a single thwomp, which would make things a LOT easier.

Turn 45

Location: The Center (Aqua Resort)
Time: Evening
Weather: Shadowy
Light: Faint

Turn Actions

Bradley: Cheer on your teammates.

Bradley cupped his hands around his mouth. "Y-you c-c-can do this, guys!" He wasn't too worried about Oomph, but it seemed like Zach was trying to outsmart these brutish Thwomps! He wasn't sure how well that would work out...

Oomph and Zach seemed too distracted by formulating their respective plans to notice Bradley's cheers.

Oomph: Have an idea.

"Oomph feeling better now. Have smart... brain... idea!"

There was a subtle, delicious smell - like fried rice or Birdo eggs - that spread outward from Oomph's head as his brain worked overtime in actually formulating a plan. He waited until the first Thwomp hit the ground, then jumped over it easily. The second one fell for his plan similarly. Oomph jumped halfway over the third Thwomp as it began to rise up, then quickly scrambled off it before he got squished on the ceiling!

Oomph taunted Zachary as he was the only one left behind.

Zachary: Attempt to turn the Thwomps against each other.

Zachary had an idea that just might work. He walked up to the first Thwomp once again.

"The thwomp behind you said you can't crush even a fly, and he's harder than you ever will be."

"NNNGUH! That make angry!" The Thwomp hit the ground with the most force yet.

However, Zach became aware of a flaw in his plan. There were several kinds of Thwomps. This was the kind that could only move in two directions: up and down. Due to the Thwomps being placed apart from each other across the length of a stone bridge, they could not interact with each other even if they wanted.

Joe: Thwack 'im.

Joe knew these guys were trouble from the moment he saw them. Sure, that first one acted friendly, but this whole place was one big trap. Or so he thought. It was too bad he didn't have his crew here to help him out, but at the same time, a little Shyguy didn't scare him any.

Joe jumped two feet into the air and came down slashing. The Shyguy began bleeding from its left side upon taking the hit. It hopped to the side, yet didn't so much as squeal in pain after taking 5 damage. Strange.

Shyguy Chef: Retaliate.

The Shyguy stared Joe down for a moment with an empty look - the same look these things always had, due to wearing masks. It surprised Joe by charging full force at him, swinging its oversized steak knife wildly.

Joe's chest was sliced right down the middle. In just a single hit, he had been critically injured, taking a grand total of 9 damage. Just what were these things? Joe considered that this might be a losing battle.

Amadeus: Heal using a Podoboo healing technique.

Amadeus attempted to heal himself, but had no idea how he would go about doing so. He noticed that Bradley was carrying around some mushrooms. For the first time since gaining his new form, he realized that he might be able to talk. He hadn't tried yet.

Turn Outro

Joe realized that the Shyguy Chef meant business, as even a single additional hit would prove deadly to him. Meanwhile, Oomph crossed the Thwomp bridge, leaving Zach confounded, as his otherwise intelligent solutions continued to prove useless.

"Zach-ach-ackry! You must run past NNNGUH-rocks eventually. They are made of rocks, and will live much longer than you, so you cannot wait for them to die."

Oomph snicked.

He noticed the little fire bro was a little flickery, and decided to give it a taste of Oomph Healing. Hero time! He flexed Oomph muscles for emphasis.

Action:
Cast Heal all up on the Pododobro!
Taunt Zachary!
Pose Randomly!

Zachary rolls his eyes at his silly teammates.

"You do realise that I have taken a lot worse from my STUDENTS then what you are doing right now. Kinda pathetic really."

Zachary decides that he might just have to go for it, as he was hoping that these thwomps were the kind that can move freely, but he suddenly realised something.

"Hey, did anyone see where Joe went to?"

Zachary decides to just go find where Joe went.

Bradley nodded. "T-that's a good idea. We'll continue on this way," he said, turning to the door behind the trio and opening it - with the key if necessary. He also puts on the Shyguy mask to see if that helps his confidence any.
