It looks cool, but the "Like EVE" kills it for me, as I've heard EVE explained as "Spreadsheets Online".

Well, that and the subscription fee.

I assumed it meant sandbox territory control. Because you can actually WASD to move in this game. :p

Any decent game has a subscription fee.

Where does it say 98? I thought he had just switched to classic mode.

This looks interesting.

As far as I can see, you can only play as the humans. Presumably, the corporations and stuff are like factions, which allows for the world PvP it mentions.

It is a cool game, but the content is nowhere close to what Eve offers ATM.  You can be piloting the top mech within a week, and most of the top combat skills within one or two months.

I completely disagree.  Subscription fees have absolutely nothing to do with game quality.

A crap game (not saying any of them are, mind you, I haven't played any subscription fee mmos) with a subscription fee is not inherently better than a decent non fee game.

I played for about a month. The mechanics of the game world, economy and politics are pretty much a straight copy/paste from Eve, this is not a bad thing since there are many people who like this formula.

Whats different is the newness of it (read: lack of content) and the fact that you directly control your mechs unlike in Eve. The only decent way to currently make money in the game is hauling crap around the three main corporation bases for hours on end. In fact, it helps to get 2 accounts and do this with one mech following the other.

Good idea, might go somewhere someday if they can get enough content going fast enough before the player base dies. Eve was just as lame and boring when it started also, but it was DIFFERENT and so it lived on until they got the game going in good directions. Not sure if these guys have the leeway to do that.

tried to install this because it has mecs.

first ~400 mb of the installation came pretty slow, took over an hour.
than the installer crashed. after restarting it, the remaining 28 mb took another hour now (note: only 8 mb of these 28 mb reached me within this hour).
in fact , the download is so incredible slow, i doubt i will have much more passion.

Any decent game has a subscription fee.

To me, a subscription means, "If we make a fancy website and put most of the dev time into the newb area, at least people will drop $50 for the game/$15 for the first month before they realize we made such an awful game".

I remember a time when subscription meant a game was half-decent, but these days subscription usually means pump-and-dump.

Anyone playing?  It's on Steam Early Access and looks pretty decent to me.  I liked a lot of the facets of EVE but I also seem to like the facets of this game I can never spell.  Just a -tad- costly for me at the moment...
