I have had the idea of a quick paced RTD where everyone will die. I got tired of running RTD's where the player would end up being super powered. So this is a nice little break
from the usual.
Backstory
It is 2014, two years ago the US government discovered a new chemical. It could transform a human into a mindless shell of what it once was.
The "zombies" craved flesh, and would actively seek it out. They quickly worked to weaponize this, but a file was leaked to the major countries around the world
by an unkown source. The UN was outraged and demanded that the US to get rid of this dangerous weapon. The US agreed and it wasn't heard of until a year later.
A bio-terrorist group know by the name of "The Source" broke into a seemingly innocent government lab. One of their members got careless, and threw a molotov in the building.
It exploded, killing all that was inside it. Months later reports of a disease sweeping the nation starting showing up. People started to rapidly die, experts said it was a
virus which was transmitted through blood, or even saliva. This didn't make sense to anyone, and most regarded it as a hoax. That was until seemingly dead people started roaming the
streets hungering for flesh....
Rules
I will be using 1d6 for most of the rolls, you will not know what roll you got. Only
I will know. Your action will succeed or fail depending on what roll you get one being
the worse while 6 is the best.
1- Total Failure, either you didn't know how to do it or you just got unlucky. Something really bad will happen.
2- Failure, you messed up. Something bad will probally happen.
3- Nothing Happen's, you tried to do it but you did nothing good or bad.
4- Marginal Success, you succeed but only by a little bit. Nothing extra happens.
5- Success, you succeed and did a pretty good job. Something good will probally happen.
6- Overshoot, you did extremely good. Something good will happen, and it will be awesome.
Game Length
A Game will generally last around 20ish turns, by the last few turns the savior/traitor will be known
to all by their actions. The savior would be known because they offer to sacrifice themselves, while the
traitor will be known because he tries to backstab the group!
Saviors and Traitors
In this game, among the group your in there can be either a Savior or a Traitor. In the beggining they
are just like any normal player. The show their true nature near the end of the game. A Savior is someone
who's goal is to sacrifice themselves for the good of the group. This usually involves them dying to save the rest.
A Traitor are also just like a normal player at the beggining. Nearing the end though, they will have to try to backstab the
group and get away with them dying and him surviving. Its also obvious that you cannot tell anyone if your a savior or a traitor.
Also note that there may not be one at all!
Combat
Getting rushed by some zeds? Or are you trying to take down that backstabbing traitor. Combat is an important part of this game
(duh). To attack you'll roll 1d6, then your opponent will roll 1d6. The person with the highest roll will win, then you do a damage roll which is
basically another d6 plus any modifiers.
Weapons
There are plenty of weapons in the post-apocalyptic world. The only problem is, some of the require training to use!
Firearms
Whats not to love about firearms? They make a big bang and make your enemies fall over dead. The only problem is even in america
few people know the proper use of firearms. Unless one of your skills states that you have training in Firearms you get a -2 to all rolls involving
them.
Melee
People have been using melee weapons to kill things since the dawn of man. Everyone knows how to pick up a stick and hit someone with it!
Watch out though, special melee weapons like swords will be difficult for the average joe to use.
Explosives
Explosives, while rare can do considerable damage to the undead foe. This can be anything between grenade launchers to the right mixture of certain
chemicals. Be careful though, unless your trained in using them chances are something bad will happen.
Injuries
In times like these, breaking an arm or a leg means certain death. All players start off with 10 HP (Unless a drawback/advantage say's different.).
Once they hit 0 they die, you will all eventually hit 0. Some sooner than others.
Minor Injury- A Scrape, Cut, or Bruise. Not that big of a deal.
Normal Injury- Can be a sprain, a deep cut, concussion, or anything else like that. Hurts like hell but will eventually heal on its own, may need medical attention.
Major Injury- Usually a break, this can severly hinder your abilities. Unless someone knows how to treat these in your group, your better off dead.
Completely Gone- This is the worst it can get, you may lose a limb altogether. You will probally die from this unless your lucky enough to have a medical genuis nearby.
Death
Death is everywhere, it happens all of the time. Your no exception. When a player's character dies the player can no longer use him in the game. The player is also put at the
end of the waiting list, newbies are prioritized first though. There is also a chance if your character does something especially awesome they will be included as a "Boss" zombie for another
group to fight against.
Character Sheet
Name- If you can't do this, this is the wrong game for you.
Appearance- Self-explaining, may contribute to your advantages/drawbacks.
Proffesion Before the Outbreak- Can be anything as long as its practical, proffessions like assasin are not. Also your least likely to get accepted if your in the military.
This will also contribute to what advantages and drawbacks you get.
Backstory- Also self explaining, may contribute to you advantages/drawbacks.
Death- Pick one word relating to death, it can be anything like gun, explosion, or whatever.
