I know that he meant the whole sponsorship release, but still I bet that the whole catacomb/market/stuff release we are waiting for will come not sooner than a few months, probably half a year.
I'd love to get it tomorrow, but I've decided for myself that it's better to prepare for long waits and be surprised than to wait for something which never comes out when you expect it .
The city works have taken a bit less than two months so far, with a one-month-and-a-few-days night creature sidestep. That has produced mostly-working cities, catacombs, sewers, dungeons, in-city keeps, furniture, shops and shopkeepers properly associated to them, and other bits and pieces. Saying that markets will take a multiple of that time seems extremely pessimistic to me. Arguably, some of their building blocks might be ready through keeps (larger structures within town), temples (NPCs associated to structures), and shops. Getting the lot sizes (and possibly lot shapes) to play nicely with town maps, getting the market people properly associated with only their wares, making market stalls temporary, establishing market days, getting people and wares to travel for markets, market halls versus market squares, yes, all that and more are going to take time. But it's hardly the stuff that half a year of coding is made of, especially when that would lead to that kind of gap between releases that Toady has stated he doesn't want again.
