Alright gentlemen! Here is the new battle system. First off everybody should add a new spoiler to their character sheets named battle menu.
Everybody Gains the following under their battle menu
Natural Techniques
-Basic Melee (Powered by Unarmed Combat) (Target = Single Melee, Base Accuracy = 50, Base Damage = 1)
-Flee (Chances and consequences of success are purely contextual)
Nobody has any other natural attacks. Now create your list of item attacks and techniques.
Everybody Gains the following
Item Techniques
Misc Item Use (Target = Single, Base Accuracy = Variable, Base Damage = Variable, Side Effects = Variable)
Now add Techniques for every weapon you own using the following formulas. Name your weapon use techniques whatever you want.
Gunpowder Weapon (Powered by Rifles/Muskets) (Target = Single Ranged, Base Accuracy = 55%, Base Damage = 1d4)
Reload Gunpowder Weapon (Must have a point in Rifles/Muskets to take this, otherwise you lack the skill and confidence to reload a large gun in combat)
Gunpowder Sidearm (Powered by Pistols) (Target = Single Ranged, Base Accuracy = 45%, Base Damage = 1d3)
Reload Gunpowder Sidearm (Must have a point in Pistols to take this, otherwise you lack the skill and confidence required to reload a pistol in combat)
Melee Weapon (Powered by relevant melee skill) (Target = Single Melee, Base Accuracy = 50%, Base Damage = 1d4, Side Effects: User may become fatigued from repeated use)
Melee Sidearm (Powered by relevant melee skill) (Target = Single Melee, Base Accuracy = 55%, Base Damage = 1d3)
Add the following categories under the battle menu spoiler, but do not yet put any techniques under them.
Learned Techniques: (NPC's you gain the favor of may teach you these if you have the correct skill)
Arcane Techniques: (Magic that you manage to master for battle)
Granted Techniques: (Abilities given by a god or other powerful being)
In battle, post techniques to cover three rounds of action. You can give conditional statements to cover for uncertainty (EG: If X happens do Y, otherwise do Z) On a round where you use ranged attack you will generally be only attacked by ranged attacks. On a round where you use a melee attack you will generally be only attacked in melee.
