Operation: Spider Shark
« on: June 24, 2011, 10:13:20 am »

Hello people of Bay 12 I am here to spread the word of  Operation: Spider Shark!

I am an avid reader of Ctrl+Alt+Delete and the creator is a fan of League of Legends and he has a plan (detailed below)
Quote
League of Legends has a referral program that lets you earn stuff in-game like character skins, etc. The more referrals you get, the cooler the rewards. At the very top of the spectrum, at a staggering ten-thousand referrals, is the opportunity to go to Riot HQ and design a champion with the team.

I'm going to be blunt here... I want to see if I can get them to put a Spider Shark in the game.* Or if they shoot down the Spider Shark idea, I'll push for a giant monkey wielding a steam-powered gatling gun. Or some sort of creature made out of pudding.

Either way, I'd need your help. I've thrown my League of Legends referral link into newsposts a couple of times in the past, just trying to passively get a couple of the champion skins. As a result, I've now accumulated almost a couple thousand referrals.

Whereas I once looked at 10,000 referrals as incredibly absurd and out of the realm of possibility, I'm now thinking it's only mildly absurd, and perhaps slightly within grasp of the realm of possibility.

'So what would I need to do', you're asking yourself? It's fairly straightforward.

Follow this link.
Set up an account with an email address and download the game.
Reach Summoner Level 5 (you can do this via the tutorial and some co-op vs AI games)
That's it! That's a valid referral. The game is free to download and play. And to be entirely honest... I wouldn't even bother suggesting this little campaign if I didn't think that a lot of you are going to find that you really enjoy the game anyway. It's certainly managed to get it's hooks in me.

I think we have a shot at this. You guys are pretty fucking amazing. And you know what, if we fall short... hey, a bunch of you may have found a new game you enjoy, and I got to draw a cool spider shark. Win all around no matter what!

So... won't you please think of the many, many poor sharks out there that spend their days wishing they could traverse land on arachnid appendages, and melt the faces of all they come across?

*I came up with Gorge's abilities on the fly. I make no claim that they would be balanced in-game. That's Riot's department and they can do a far better job than I can. I mostly just care about getting the concept into the game.

So why do i ask you guys for help simple I want this to happen think about it... Shark + Robotic Spider you cant go wrong with that

A Shark that drowns on land and can only crawl across the the ocean bottom?  Or a spider with 8 fins?

Then again, I consider Infinity to be overly ambitious, something that might easily spell it's downfall.

My brother showed me this Japanese comic (manga?) thingy where people dumped robots into the ocean or something, and years later they formed symbiotic relationships with the ocean life or something and started invading the mainland using sharks and stuff. Funnily enough, the robots had spider leg things. I cannot remember the name of the comic/manga/whatever off the top of my head, but if I do find out I might edit this post with the name.

Somehow, I interpret more like Sharktopus. Watch that movie if you dare. It uses the octopus tentacles like spider legs.

I think you're talking about the horror manga Gyo, by Junji Ito.

They should make a Buck Timley character, who makes opponents' mouths hang open.

This won't work because Grez already hit the 10k referral mark and Riot won't let anyone do it again, lol.

They should make a Buck Timley character, who makes opponents' mouths hang open.

Buck Timley
Core abilities:-
- Forces female characters to have miscarriages.
- Writes blatant self-insert characters in his comics.
- Whines about having to do work.
And, his ultimate:
- Sending a picture of his penis to every female character on the map smaller than a certain height or younger than the age of 15. Sadly, this does not get him arrested. (Would, "Has sex with underaged girls at conventions" be better?)
