This is stupid.

I have 3 wood furnaces, all fully stocked with "Make Charcoal". I have 7 12 dwarves with furnace operating and stuff enabled. I have waited for 2 seasons.

And yet they haven't done ANYTHING.

Why!? What the FUCK?!

Do you have any dwarves with the 'wood burning' skill?  Making charcoal uses wood burning, not furnace operating.

It's listed under the farming labors, not smithing labors. Fifth or sixth or thereabouts in the list.

Yeah, sorry, guys. Just was trying to smelt a modded ore and it was just so... angering, mining a billion miles of stone to see if the lack of raw coal was the problem or something.

If you're easily upset by interface problems and such, Dwarf Fortress may not be the game for you.

Dwarf Fortress is (at this time at least) all about dwarves dying to ridiculous stupidity and creating horribly convoluted solutions to (what should be) simple problems.
