We need one of those caged. Hold back the military until they reach our traps. After a day or two of waiting, a goblin siege arrived. Composed of a whole two(!!!) squads! With an elite bowman. We should be careful. A prisoner has been caught, now we must only worry about the goblins, our traps are pretty much shredding these things. Who said honey badgers are less ferocious when tamed? They were screaming and tearing at the remaining slade creatures. They're strange. No matter how many fall, they do not react, they just keep moving forward as if nothing has happened.
And then the goblin siege came, along with a blizzard man named Osta. Which was kind of strange, I've never seen a blizzard man before. And then another blizzard man. This was peculiar... The goblin siege was a huge one compared to many others. Urvad went out to fight against the western side of the attack, telling the rest of the squad to keep her daughter safe. The goblins retreated after many casualties, but the eastern side of the attack (blizzard men) remained.
The blizzard men were weak, but took a lot to kill. Nothing we haven't seen before, really. They gave our recruits a bit of live combat experience too. Now, let's get back to these slade creatures. I think I will call them slade ghosts, they seem to be able to float slightly above the ground, and look pretty dead.
Any good military dwarf will explain to you that a projectile that hits a wall, while there is nothing under that wall, will always remain intact. Jaxy has been using this to his advantage, to reduce the amount of stone he uses in catapult training, by putting a channel in front of a wall. Marksmen without facilities, for example on a random hill near a village, have done this to train while conserving ammunition. Slade ghosts can hurl slade.

Another year, another potential load of invaders. I'm giving everyone some time to finish up on all the tasks before we begin on the slade ghost experiments. During this time, a craftsdwarf created Silverybored, an oaken toy boat. More useless junk...

Dsarker wants to try out brewing. Maybe she just wants extra drinks. Turns out captain Ilral had been stuck in a cage somehow, probably stunned by a charging blizzard man. He's starving, pretty angry at everyone for leaving him for so long too.

Turns out Dsarker wants even more stuff, including a better tomb. She also seems to want to learn a bit of everything, in case we have any problems with a lack of people.
Note: In granite, I was at 15-20 FPS. I'm now at a steady 44! Yay for butchering babies!/i]
