So my first reaction was to ask the smiths about this anvil we got, since it was an anvil and smiths use anvils. Urist the armorer said, "Melt it down, maybe we'll be able to get a bar from it"
So we went to our furnace operators, and asked for this anvil to be melted down. Perfectly reasonable request, anvils are commonly melted down after we buy them. But this one wouldn't melt. We tried dipping it into the magma. Next came Mestthos, the metalsmith. He actually makes anvils, so you'd think he'd have some idea what to do.
"Try building a forge out of it!"
Wait what. Well apparently he was just interested in if it worked as an anvil. Funnily enough, it worked. We could use it like a perfectly normal anvil. But how had this anvil been made? In fact, how had the very first anvil been made? How had whatever made it mined the stone to make it? Cheveux said he'd come back to me about the slade anvil we have. Slade is so heavy... It weighs 200 times as much as my steel shield.
Meanwhile, the iron cap harvest had popped up. At least their metal makes sense.

Alright, year five. Let's hope nobody (important) dies. Apparently our clothier became particularly secretive. I bet he's just bored of making cloth crafts and has decided to try something else to surprise us. Meanwhile, Dsarker had a hissy fit about NRDL's throne office. And Cheveux just told me, "I don't know wether this is a blessing or a curse. Such a demonic metal. Maybe we should use it in a room made out of one the most pure metal know to dwarves, gold, to restrain it's demonic influence over us. Letting beginner metalsmith work on this anvil could corrupt them, we should only allow accomplished metal workers to work on this incredible tool.
If we could make a hammer or any blunt weapon for that matter, it would most likely be one of the deadliest weapon ever in the right hand."
I suppose he's right. The anvil is so freaking heavy that if we could make a hammer out of that stuff, no armor could protect our enemies. Sadly, he's forgotten that there is no way to do this... Oh and we got a pig tail fiber thong. Wow. Plus, he was already a legendary clothier. Nothing good came out of that. At all. Dsarker has also been unhappy. I need to improve our living conditions. NRDL, your demented throne room has got to go.
So, I guess I will work on our defenses now. First of all, more weapon traps. Yeah... More importantly, I'm thinking about how to incorporate catapults into our defense. Cheveux is now an animal trainer, as Dsarker is baroness. Degel, who had been pretty much operating pumps and forgotten about, will now be trained as a siege engine operator.

Not much. Jaxy's now a great siege operator though.
At the end of the month, the world makes sense again. We have idlers. All important dwarves are now to have two war creatures assigned to them. One for minor, three for very important, not including the military. These dwarves are:
Cheveux, weaponsmith (very important)
Dsarker, baroness (very important)
Bim, chief medical dwarf (very important)
Sigun, woodcrafter (very important) (he's a woodcrafter, but that's from a strange mood. He's our best doctor)
Jaxy, siege operator (important)
Sibrek, manager (important)
Urist, armorer (important)
Mesthos, blacksmith (important)
Reg, clothier (minor)
Urvad, stonecrafter (minor)
BrickT, farmer (minor)
Tulon, mason (minor)
Urdim, brewer (minor)
Lokum, cook (minor)
G, planter (minor)
Then dsarker gave birth to another boy.

Expecting elves and ambushes any time now. We don't need animals from the elves anymore. But wood, food, and drinks are always nice.
And the gremlins are back, in greater numbers, but the same crappy equipment. I'm counting 3 squads. Urvad and I will go out, the rest of the military will defend the fortress. Right after I have a nap. They also brought trolls. Sadly, a woodcutter who decided that the best thing to do is run away from the fortress was struck down. As for the gremlins that killed him, I cut their limbs off too quickly for them to just bleed to death. On a lighter note, Bim the chief medic has given birth to a boy. Anyway, beginning an expansion of the barracks. Archers stay where they are to help defend. Jaxy is now a high master at siege operating.
