Sure. I'll restart very soon probably with v1.5 of the mod (been busy for a while), I just need to do some quick (400 FPS cap) bug testing.

1 So if we ever somehow flood the place with magma, the containers will be alright.
OOC:
Dwarves:
Conan, hunter/axe/woodcutter (male)
Katana, bone carver/swords (male)
Cheveux, weaponsmith/miner (male)
NRDL, miner/mason (male)
BrickT, grower/brewer (male)
G, grower/butcher (male)
Dsarker, chief medic/broker (female)

Late obsidian,

Alright then. Let's find some ethyl. Yeah, that's the entire reason I went on this journey, ethyl. One of the greatest metals ever. All the mountainhomes have is atyl. Some cheap version of the stuff, which Cheveux seems to love. Well, I chose this place. There's magma, and that's all that matters really. Magma for the forges, magma for the invaders. What more could we want? Well would be nice if we found some ethyl.

So you may be wondering, why choose a site that probably won't have ethyl anyway? Well, the reason is simple: traders. Back in the mountainhomes you couldn't ask for anything from merchants that came, if they even came at all. Plus the food sucked. No sunshine... Just grime caps, every day. We might be living mainly on grime caps for a while in this outpost, but at least I can change that...

Pig meat and beer was being sold for less than normal, I think. That or I got some extra somehow. Oh well. We got to keep a tank spider webber, which was nice. I'll call the place starwound. For luck, since I want star caps. For making cap gold and well, wounding people... Or something. I don't really remember why I wanted to call the fortress starwound in the first place. Well, sounds better than soaplanterns. Sort of. Let's call ourselves the book of stabbing. Stabbing is fun. Uh, book? I don't know. We needed something. The stabbing of stabbing, just doesn't seem right. You know what, let's call ourselves the stab of stabbing. Nah, book's best.

___

Granite, 1

Hey wait, where are we.

Oh this is a bit awkard. Not helped by the fact NRDL is complaining about his fear of heights, and Conan's yelling about the fact he's meant to be a woodcutter and a hunter at the same time, how he can't use a crossbow to chop wood or something. And there are some slimes down there. A bit worrying, but nothing bad has happened so far.
Alright, looking at the place, I can tell that we're right by a volcano. Some ryl fragments, or impure bryl, it's hard to tell from a distance. Whatever. Anyway, let's get down from here! Magma-based doomsday devices can wait until we're underground. And we have a mechanic. Let's dig at the base of this volcano. Conan, do whatever, we can deal with your issues later. NRDL, get digging and stop complaining.

At least we can get down from here. Some vultures tried to steal from our messed up wagon. And the tank spider webber actually took the foot of one of those things. There's sand for glassmaking, always nice. Maybe we could have a glass fortress. The tank spider webber is going to be put at the entrance for some minor defense. I'm useless without a sword, and Conan's useless without an axe. Plus, there is no wood. At all. Or even water. The tank spider looks like it's missing a foot, but completely ignores the wound. Now that we've settled, it's time to get some stuff done: farming, barracks, and finding water...
You know what? Our food supplies are dropping quickly because of THESE THINGS:

The tank spider will go to the food stockpile after all.

Slate, 2
NRDL. Make some weapon racks. Don't come back until we get a masterpiece.
OOC: Yes, every time.

Meanwhile, I'll make some bone bolts. Stupid yak... Why couldn't you have bones that take less time to carve! A cat would be 15 times as efficient as you. At least you were free. NRDL just made a masterpiece, so he's free... For now. Dsarker reminded me of our lack of a hospital and water. Or even beds! We have absolutely no wood whatsoever! But the water, we can deal with. I hope. Let's just explore the caverns and see if there are some large bodies of water. We may be stuck with grim caps for a while, but they'll be our grime caps. Dsarker also wants to be the manager, broker, and bookkeeper along with being chief medic. Obviously, this also means an office.
Conan finally got around to hunting... slimes. As in creatures without bones... Sure there's nothing else, but couldn't you just, well, save the bolts for something better? Plus, I thought this place was meant to be a rocky wasteland with some trees... Well we're near magma, why don't we set up some forges?

Felsite, 3
Yeah, let's start with the magma stuff. Cheveux really wants to get to metalworking, but we don't really have any ores. I think I'll check out the red mineral I saw when we just got here- we just hit a cavern! No water? Seal it off, we'll get back to the stuff later. Olivine could be pretty useful. After a month, Conan's only killed a single slime. Right when we dug out the final urist of stone blocking the magma flow, Cheveux sees this:

Adamantine! Wow... Katana! Find us water already! Oh right, sorry bout that Dsarker. I was sort of distracted by one of the greatest metals ever. Yeah, let's keep digging... Oh Conan? Make some rock pots. Loads actually. So if we ever somehow flood the place with magma, the containers will be alright. Uh katana? What is it BrickT? Oh. Wait. That's not good.

NRDL! SEAL IT OFF! FAST! Whew, I guess I didn't notice it because it blended in so well with the sand.

Hematite, 1
Spring's over, and the only major thing that's happened is a magma flood, that we stopped before it could do much harm. Looking closely, I've found that the red bunch of bucket-like fragments in the stone was in fact ryl.

Above that, there appears to be a vein of galena. Annoyingly, there only actually were two units of ryl ore. We're all annoyed with the lack of beds, but I can't do anything about it. Everyone seems to have gone on break, while I'm still trying to make the... Fifth? load of bone bolts from these stupid freaking yaks. Cheveux apparently discovered a breakthrough to do with melting spiked balls, how he could extract every drop of molten metal by melting it. Conan officially became a stonecrafter, which I don't have much to say about. He was a pathetic hunter anyway. But since there's actually something with bones to hunt, he's going to be doing soem more hunting. And right when I say that, the camels are gone... Back to stonecrafting for you!
Looks like NRDL was lying, he got nowhere near a bar out of melting the spiked ball. Well, I'm telling him to make me a long sword anyway. Every bar of metal must count, and he has a love for long swords. We'd better get something good.
In this fortress, I expect no less than the best. All non-masterwork weapons are to be melted down. Every sword, shield, and possibly breastplate, will have a story to it by the end.

Some other time, working on updates then I'll probably be gone till tomorrow. The only notable things are:
Dsarker dislikes helping
Katana likes ethyl
Cheveux likes atyl and long swords
BrickT likes adamantine
And half the starting 7 have a love of some night creature.

Katana could just forbid the other metals to force me to pick whatever he wants.

No, really. I had a mayor who wanted candy for her mood once, and she didn't pick anything (I had lots of metal) until I finally made some wafers.
She made a shield.

I never had this problem, so I looked over the wiki and here's the answer :
Quote
If you want your dwarves to construct their artifacts out of valuable materials instead of whatever useless thing happens to be close at hand, you can selectively forbid types of material through the stocks screen so that only the material you want them to use is available; though this might interfere with the normal crafting operations of your fortress, the disruption is generally short-lived (as long as you remember to unforbid them again afterwards!). You can even forbid something a moody dwarf is carrying (which may be necessary sometimes, since while they are not waiting in the workshop they will not tell you what they need); the dwarf will finish hauling it to the workshop, but then immediately go searching for another. This trick can mean the difference between a bauxite statue decorated with moss agates and a native platinum statue encrusted with diamonds. Be aware that this may not always work - moody metalsmiths will occasionally insist on a specific type of metal with which to make their artifact, and forbidding other metals to force them to use a more valuable material will simply cause them to sit in the workshop until you give them what they want. This metal is usually the one listed in their Thoughts and Preferences page as their favorite metal, though mining raw adamantine may cause them to insist on wafers of adamantine metal instead.

Upon reading your earlier post I saw the "may not" and realized you were right. My apologies.

Name: Ifeno
Gender: Male
Profession(s): Swordsdwarf - Militia Commander
Personality: Brave.  A skilled swordsman willing to lay down his life in the line of duty.  He is not fond of the nobility and finds some of their requests to be unreasonable and selfish.  He refuses to die or put his men in danger for a cause he does not believe in.  He is an inspiration to those around him.  He does not blindly follow orders and may even refuse an order if he deems in illogical.  He is loyal, powerful, and respected.

I tried to do it in kinda of a z-status description style.  Can't wait for this to get underway :D

It's really funny watching them do unnecessary surgery because of a wrong diagnosis.
the conditions were bad enough to turn a dwarf who didn't care about anything mad, that's pretty hardcore.

2 Wait, you killed them fast? Damn, I need to make a duller sword.

Malachite, 1

Cheveux's diary
I don't want to waste what's most likely our only bar of sharp metal for now, so I'll practice by creating something out of silver. Yeah I'll go dig that, katana won't notice. I hope. Well if he does, he'll understand how it was for the good of the fort and all, so nothing could possibly go wrong. He's too busy with carving bone bolts anyway. And when he's not doing that, he's complaining about how hard it is to carve mule bones. Or wondering where mules actually come from...

You know, it's too bad that Cobaltite can't be made into a metal or anything.

OOC: Ah the 107 FPS feels so good after playing scrubbedcreams.

Ah, migrants. We could use some more people.
1: Aban, miner (female)
She came here hoping to mine. She will find herself operating furnaces.
2: 'Jaxy', miller (male)
Jaxy was a fisherdwarf, once. Then he realized that starwound had absolutely no known source of water, and decided to be a miller. Smart dwarf. But here's the problem: He now desperately wants to be a siege engineer and operator. Hey Jaxy. Why don't you be bookkeeper for a second and count our wood supplies? Yeah, you know how much we have? One, less than one!
At least he was willing to compromise, and is temporarily a mechanic.
3: Dastot, weaver (female)
With the name sword, I was expecting something decent. A weaver's nice, except that we have no cloth at the moment. Being a high master does not mean you can create cloth from stone. Well, normal stone. She seemed to be thinking the same thing, looking down the volcano as soon as she got in.
4: Erith, woodcutter (female)
Wow. You're talented at chopping wood and making crossbows. Now how well can you chop enemies? If you want your wood, you're going to have to kill everything around it...
5: Inod, dyer (female)
Great, just what we need. More extremely skilled dwarves while we lack the resources to use them. High master dyer? Go try and find some dye. Gather plants or something.
6: Muthkat, cook (female)
Well, at least you're sort of useful at the moment. Get to rendering that fat!

And those were the dwarves that decided to come to Starwound this summer, probably also escaping the disgusting grime caps. Cooks actually refused to even touch the things, so all we had was raw mushroom. And some grimy drink pressed from half-eaten remains. Hopefully, half-eaten by dwarves. Well, we have deadstone. Maybe we could make some swords or something while Cheveux avoids making anything sharp at the forges. Oh wait, no wood. I'm not risking going down the caverns unarmed. Let's try digging deeper to find water, at least then we could keep the wounded (me) alive. Erith the woodworker will now be trained as an engraver.

For once ushrir Blockjewels has been kind to me.

(OOC: woo, cool object of worship.)
We can now set up a working hospital. Well, we still need to get some wood. Aban the miner has asked to become a glassmaker as well, which could work considering we need various glass items.

Galena, 1
Oh right we need to make a trade depot for when the (crap food) mountainhomes come. It should be safe to breach the caverns and put a few doors behind that so we can get wood, there were no giant cave spider webs or anything. Conan is now being allowed to hunt, while miss dyer is about to learn how to make pots. Don't ask why I picked the dyer, I have no idea to be honest. I think I saw a troll in the water level, but it should be alright. Some crundles too. Ah, crundles. Why didn't the mountainhomes tame them. Then we'd have something decent to eat. Conan wants to try hunting the crundles, but I'm not really sure if it's a good idea, with the troll so close.

Limestone, 1
Conan has been hunting flesh blobs recently. They taste great. Sadly, Conan sucks at actually shooting them, so I had to go try to kill one. No matter how much I punched it, I couldn't do anything but slightly bruise it. This game Cheveux an idea, he said he needed some of the silver. So I went up, and found this longsword.
(he went to SKILLED striker. From no-skill.)

"Cheveux. You just made me a sword. Out of silver." I say.
"Yeah, go use it to kill stuff." He replies.
"It's SILVER. Exceptional quality doesn't make up for a lack of sharpness, Cheveux."
"Exactly. Now go back to what you were doing."

Well, he's a good smith, so he's got to know something about this. Let's get back to the flesh blob. I've gotten pretty good at punching stuff. Well, they died quickly to my sword. So I went back to Conan, and he asked me about this.
"Wait, you killed them fast? Damn, I need to make a duller sword."
And then migrants.
1: Kadol, brewer (female)
Kadol was a marksdwarf once, apparently.
2: Atomic Avocado, milker...? (male)
He was once a recruit, who had fought his way through training with a pick. He wants to learn how to use swords now, I don't really blame him.
3: Vucar, farmer (female)
A soap maker. Perfect. No, I'm serious, we need a soap maker.
4: Mistem, metalcrafter (female)
Cool, a metalcrafter.
5: Kadol, leatherworker (female)
Leatherworker, huh? Well, you might actually be useful.
6: Zuglar, presser (female)
I have no plans for you, but if we ever need cannon fodder, you're up.
7. Kumil, tanner (female)
You have experience as an axedwarf? Just remember that, you'll be in the military. Later.

And that was all, for now. You know what, Zuglar will be our second butcher. Just cause!

Sandstone, 1
I think I'll make this silver longsword the executioner's sword. Killing of notable prisoners will be done with this sword.

I think it's kind of scary that I read about the flesh blob I thought "That would make a nice training 'partner'." and in the same line my character has the same idea.
