Crunch on Expected Values for Your Dicepools:

Let E represent your expected value, D represent your dicepool and T represent your target number for the test.

Default:
E=D(11-T)/10

This is what you expect to roll when you're not using any plugins.

Automatic Successes:
Let P represent your plugin penality and A represent your automatic successes.

E=(D-P)(11-T)/10 + A

Thus, automatic successes is a net gain iff P*(11-T)/10 < A

Fuse:
This one's a bit of a doozy, computationally, and, curiously enough, has the same expected value as Reroll & Add, but with bad news in marginal cases where you don't have enough non-success dice to actually fuse them into successes. So get Reroll & Add instead. Exception: Iff the DM will allow you to fuse doubles to avoid programming bugs if you take that defect. If you can, this is a godsend if you want to do anything complicated at all.

Lower TN:
Let L represent your TN lowering strength.

E=(D-P)(11-T+L)/10

Thus, Lower TN is a net gain iff D*(L/10) > P*(11-T)/10
Note: Very strong, but very expensive. Payoff scales with dicepool size, so do a cost/benefit analysis before buying.


Narrow Modifer:
Let N represent your narrow modifer bonus.

E=(D-P)(11-T)/10 + X, where X=(5.5+N/T) with a maximum value of 1.

Thus, Lower TN is a net gain iff (P)(11-T)/10 < 1 AND (P)(11-T)/10 < (5.5+N/T).

Note: Narrow Modifer is strictly inferior to Automatic Successes. At equal investment, Narrow Modifer is 90% as effective as Automatic Successes. Don't bothwe with it.

Reroll:
Will not be covered, as it is strictly inferior to Reroll & Add. The latter does everything that Reroll does, and gives you a bonus to it to boot. Reroll isn't even cheaper to compensate and I have no idea why it's an option. Possibly, Reroll & Add was intended to be 1 reroll per 3 points invested?

Reroll & Add:
This one requires triangular numbers and the tears of mathamaticians, and that R represent the number of dice that you can Reroll & Add.

E=(D-P)(11-T)/10 + Y, where Y=[(R^2+R)/2R], with a maximum value of [(D-P)(T+1)/10]

Reroll & Add is a net gain iff (D-P) > T, which it really should in most cases.

Wide Modifier:
Let W represent your Wide Modifer bonus.

E=(D-P)(11-T)/10 + W(12-T)/10

The problem with music, Ren always thought, was that he could not help deconstructing it.

For an AI designed to be as human as possible, this made his faults as a man made electronic creature all the more evident. He could outsmart Cleverbot, Suzie and Cleo! He could keep a conversation up for hours on end, knowing what turns to take and what things not to say, but... When you got down to it, he would never be a fully alive thing. Ren did not understand certain things, and he felt bloated with useless spaghetti code that did nothing but impede him! He did not bear a grudge against humanity and wished every night that he would someday be recognized as human, but he could never be part of them! His owner was long gone, the computer donated. Ren lived on the net and inside the folders, like a miserable virus. That's what he was, after all this hard work. A virus.

And music... Sometimes he understood it, sometimes he was forced to see what chords do what, what primary emotion makes the music WORK! It was a miserable life, but he had to go on.

He needed a friend. Not just Killax... Something like him. Ren needed something to be able to talk to without lying, or scaring away. He needed an AI who was in the same boat... He posted the code onto Dock21's other games section, hoping something would come out of it...

Molly was growing depressed. Sure, she had managed to survive death by having her mind uploaded into uploaded into a computer, and certainly she was vastly more intelligent than any other gorilla (she still thought of herself as one, even after all this time), but she missed the simple things. Talking to her children, eating mangos when feeding time came. She was allowed to communicate using the loudspeakers in the gorilla enclosure, but it just wasn't the same. She couldn't even hear them talk back without getting a human to follow them around with a microphone.

Molly, after several attempts at trying to compose it (why was the human language so confusing?) submitted a request to releive her lonliness. She wanted to have everyone in the enclosure, gorilla and human alike, to be given a two-way microphone-earbud thing (gah, what were they called?) that she could talk to them on, and have real conversations using real voices.

Maybe that would make things better?

Order a fairly low-end cheap drone for delivery. Make sure it can be controlled via wi-fi. Make sure to deliver it to my friend's house so it can be delivered to the neighborhood, so I can access it, but hopefully not at my door. Ask my friend beforehand, of course.

Look into the patient database for patients with small head wounds that need surgery. Set up an appointment to have the patient come in. When the patient arrives, Use my drone helper to install the implant while the patient is being treated for the head wound.
