You know the amount of stuff you can transport is as much a function of the number of oxen you have as the number of wagon? You know what? You still got time before leaving, we could try to capture some wild draft animals. You may even manage to get a few horses.

Or ask the forest-lady? She may get boar to pull your wagons if you give her something worthwhile.

The average yield of fields is in the OP under "Crops". For wheat, it's about 50 food per field after one month, for lentils it's about 200 food per field after 3-4 months. Vegetable gardens produce a few food per month, and help keeping your workers from getting malnutrition.

Sorry, I didn't read this. So I got 8 fields. Total production should be 3*200+5*50 or 850. For one harvest. That's enough food to feed 70 people for a year. And I can get another crop or wheat or two in that time, and one of lentils. Plus the gardens. Guys, look like our food supply is safe.

What shall I do then? More wood? Start building more housing? Dig the canal? Few more fields for safety sake?

All of the above, but you might want to keep the farmers farming those plots just in case anything happens.

This also gives me time to train the army up though :D

Ahh, but the earth spirit told me there was an unnamed ore in these parts. Greenstone could be it.

Orders
-1 Farmer tend each garden. 1 more Farmer put compost on the gardens.
-3 Farmers will plant the fallow field with wheat.
-5 Farmers will spray compost on the other wheat fields (Lentils are nitrogen-fixing and shouldn't need manure that much)
-The other 6 farmers, the three landscapers, me and Brutus will take 2 wagons, 4 oxens, 22 units of food as well as the axes and hoes and head toward the riverbed's connection with the river, to do a canal there. Taric, I'd be grateful if you could lend me as man or two for my protection.

I'm thinking I may have made food to easy to gather. To fix this, I think I'd like to up the rate at which units consume it to 1 per unit per week instead of 1/4. In game, this means you've had your workers on really tight rations. You can keep them on these rations, which will make them unhappy and cause them to perform less well, or you can ease up on the rations, which will consume more food. sound good?

edit-While malachite IS green, you can tell that the green stone is not malachite.
