I used DFReveal before I found magma the legit way.. Now I can't build magma smelters.

Is there any way I can fix this?

Wall off the area where the magma lives so there is no way to trace a path there, or spot it (so no fortifications).  Then use DFUnreveal.

I think that will reset the magma as "undiscovered" allowing you to "discover" it properly.

Where do I get DFUnreveal? Google is failing me.

Edit: I ran dfreveal and 'unrevealed' after walling off my cavern. I can still see everything.

Am I fucked?

backup the save and abandon and than reclaim. If you still see the magma you didn't wall it off properly.
(otherwise i have no idea what to do)

bleh my reclaim started on an adjacent island and I'll be arsed to dig back over and reclaim everything, I think it's just easier to restart

You can't use the magma if you just DF reveal it...? Do you always have to wait for a "You have discovered X" message?

It's been that way since before 2010 version, as far as I know! Not commonly encountered since before then magma wasn't on every map.

Yeah, the same thing applies to DFLiquids... creating magma won't cut it, if you want to use dfliquids to make a magma reservoir for magma forges etc., you need to at least discover the magma sea first (or embark on a map with a volcano, but then you wouldn't exactly need dfliquids).

Apart of these there is apparently a (rare) bug with revealing caverns, which may apply to magma seas. I had it once that I revealed a third cavern (with proper message), even fought beasts and cut trees there, and still wasn't getting the third cavern trees. After some time one of my rovers (animals) discovered another part of the third cavern and I got a second "discovery" message - as if that was a fourth cavern. Now trees started to grow. But my world was absolutely unmodified, default settings and all. As if there were more trigger locations, and one didn't fire properly.

dfunreveal is in the same package as dfreveal, the dfhack package.  if you have an older version of dfhack you wont have dfunreveal, just go to the modding section, find the dfhack thread, and download the latest version.

You need to use "dfunreveal", which requires you to have the [k] cursor placed up in the outside "above" your fort.

Not the "unreveal" part of 'dfreveal'.  All that does is unreveal whatever dfreveal just revealed, during that usage of dfreveal.

I always thought it was dFUNreveal....... but ya unreveal makes more sense.   but ya that should work.
