So I have a bunch of cages full of hostile creatures that have been trapped. Mostly zombie badgers, pandas, moose etc (and their xxxman equivalents).

Is it possible for me to trade these hostile creatures to the elves (metal cages of course)? I'd get some amusement trading a bunch zombie animals to the hippies. I ask because anytime I try and have the cages hauled to the Depot, it appears as though any non-tame animals automatically escape. They aren't much threat, so I've tried it a few times, each time resulting in failure. I have also tried with non-undead animals.

So is it only possible to trade tame animals, or am I missing something?

Setting a hostile-occupied cage for trade causes this to happen:

Every time. It's a known bug, but there's no workaround.

you must lock the elves with the zombies in a room and link the cages to a lever. Than pull the lever and the elves will leave all kind of treats for you.

Did you try to dump cages via "d-b-d" to the depot from above, and them desiganting them for trade?
