That makes this game rather simple for a KOEI strategy game. In that case, seconding the plan to make a fast grab for Lyle's gem.
Right, I told you guys it was simple. I think it's their simplest strategy game.

I'm sorry, I... I...

forgot to save the last LP.

I'll just... replay..

Unfortunately I can't replay perfectly, but here's the new map.

So this time, Coryll survived, Flax was the one who was taken away.

Also I've invested a ton of my resources on troops for battle.

Anyway, Lyle is still in the same position.

I'll be updating again soon!

Ohh Koei, I know EA is accused of making the same game over and over... but you perfected it long ago.

Though to admit, this is probably one of your more creative rehashes.

Kinda makes me wonder what if Koei made a Romance of the Three Kingdoms where instead of China it took place in a fantasy world.

The perfect KOEI game would have:
- Food trading, taxes, tribute, population loyalty, military loyalty, random merchants and other special characters
- Body / Governance Points (which the AI is also constrained by), all kinds of retainer skills, retainer loyalty, tea ceremonies, jousting / tournaments, hostages, marriage, ronin / mercenary retainers
- Floods, droughts, irrigation levels, flood defense levels, farm development levels, castle levels, market levels
- Skill, maybe even multiple skills for firearms / ironclads / magic / whatever
- Battles with more-interesting ranged combat (archers / siege weapons / musketeers who can shoot farther than 1 square), and maybe with cavalry who can charge against multiple squares in a line
- Mass popular movements who threaten you with the power of God. Playable, too. Seriously, even Shogun 2 Total War doesn't let you play the Ikko-Ikki without a mod.
- The same artist who did the art for all these early-era games. The character portraits were the best I've ever seen from any strategy game that bothers to have character portraits.
- Music by Yoko Kanno

Alas, getting all these things in a single game will be nearly-impossible today. And, it looks like Gemfire only has a skeleton of KOEI gameplay with the seasonal grain trade thrown in.

To be fair though, Gemfire's main charm is its simplicity.

We're currently in a retarded situation.

As we do not have much now, I'm going to wait till the next September THEN crush Lyle.
Also my atttempt to plunder Lyle has failed. Again.

At least something good happened!

Nothing much changed except Lankshire took another province from Corryll.

Right, it was a short update, but eh, I'm going to attack Lyle now, but I need some advice.

I'm planning to record a video of the battles, any recommended software etc.? Taking screenshots of battles in this game are a pain in the ass imo.

MSI Afterburner works wonders for Windows and is free, unlike Fraps. It requires a bit of setup for video capture, though. It's how I did this whole LP - just hit the "start video recording" key, play a bit, then hit that key again, then use VLC to view the video and hit the "take screenshot" button in VLC.

Haven't tried it with whatever you're using to play Gemfire, though.

ZSNES records well, I think I'll use that.

Should I record the battle and take out screenshots of it, or just post the video?

We're currently in a retarded situation.

Could you provide detail about why this situation you are currently in is "differently abled"? All I really am seeing is a screenshot, and with no context, I don't really know how horrible the situation is.

I'm guessing it has to do with the low money / food situation.
