No, the race choice is still between the three races. While this is about the Multiworlds, it's not just a random stroll through them. There's a backstory and plot here, and they dictate their terms in regards to race selection.

That said, nothing really prevents me from making your character a dark-skinned white-haired human with slightly pointed ears. Not a real drow by any stretch of meaning, but you'd probably pass for one if there weren't any real drow around to compare with.
I have no objections to this, however can the hair remain green?
If not, not really an issue, that is a fair comprimise to me.

Dusk elves get along with other races. They have good relations with dwarves as well and have a marked distaste for goblinoids. Unlike other elves, dusk elves are more open to other races and don't have distrust towards half-breed races. They live in stone towers they raise in their forests, and unlike their wild brethren they willingly trade with other races for metals, using them to forge finest armors and weapons.
Dusk elf. Not drow.

Well, you initially said "dark elf", not "dusk elf". Quoting a famous russian saying, "they're two very big differences".

I realized that there are so many different ideas of what a dark elf IS, so I settled for Deon's Dusk Elves.

Oh, hey. Look at this fancy solid system. I've been making a fancy solid RTD system too, except it's tuned for live D&D sorts of play instead of online stuff.

Okay, with regards to powers and their transition. Here's what we'll do.

Any given power will have to pass three checks at its own level value to pass the world barrier unhindered. "Pass" in this case means scoring a "Success" or higher. So I roll the check as if you were using the power, three times, and if you succeed all three it remains the same. If only two succeed, the power's die value is halved, rounded down. If only one succeeds, the value is reset to 1, and the power is, for all intents and purposes, lost - but it could be regained with proper effort. If all fail, the power is lost forever.

With this system, the chance to lose a highly developed ability is fairly slim. The chance of losing any ability at all (as long as it's up to "reasonably successful" levels) permanently is also rather low, but there's a high chance of pushing underdeveloped abilities into outright uselessness.

For items, it'll be a bit different. It'll be the same system, with items receiving die values from 4 to 8 depending on how tied to their universe they are, but there will be no gradation. The item will keep its powers if it fails no more than one check.

There, I think this is a fair enough system to use.

As for the other variants - the scenarios one wasn't really an option (hehe), since some of the worlds I selected already make use of that mechanic, and would be positively dull to play in otherwise. I just wanted to see if anyone had opinions to share on the concept. And I'll probably forego the initial race selection, unless someone from the starting 5 players wants to change - no use scrapping perfectly good characters.

And yeah, still working on that update. God damn this is hard. How do professional writers do this kind of thing?

I dunno about the whole loosing powers thing. How will we develop powers in the first place? If we can't use them for fear of loosing them permenantly, then they will always be at a low level and almost completely useless. How will we even gain them in the first place?

Unfortunately, I don't fit the description in your avatar text, Acanthus. I'm decidedly not angry enough to use RAGE as a power source. I'd consider getting hit with an experimental gamma warhead, but Mighty Bulk no like complicated words. Mighty Bulk write easy words! IN BULK! :P

As for gaining powers, it'll be an extension of the Scenarios mechanic. Via retcontinuity, your characters will have been endowed with powers fitting the universe you're inhabiting - what you'll be doing is getting them to surface. And the point of you losing them is so your status doesn't get cluttered with stuff you didn't bother to develop after acquiring, as well as keeping your power level at least roughly, well, "level" across your adventure, so I don't have to scale up the encounters too much.

Hmmm... I suppose that fits. Well, I guess I just have to try the system before I critique it further. How is the update going btw?

Well, it's about half and half-done. Meaning it consists of two parts, and both are roughly half-done. :P

I could probably post it the way it is now and be done with it (as it's structurally complete, just needs flavor and detail), but I won't do that unless I'm REALLY desperate.
