I'm going to be experimenting with some things during the first few turns of the game, one of which will be graphic statuses. Or, partially graphic. Not sure how exactly it's going to work, but I've already decided for myself that if adding something will cause a delay in making a turn, I won't add it. Same goes for drawings and narrative this time.

sometimes I'm not sure why I even bother with these experiments

Also, I'm just about ready to dump the remaining update(s) for RTDMM as-is and start this game already. All I've left to do here is test the combat system properly and decide on a format to keep all the turns in.

Perfect.  You captured the essence of Conan the barbarian perfectly in Frederick.

XD

I'm not sure I was going for "Conan the barbarian" in terms of looks, I just tried to draw something that fit the description and stats... well, whatever works. :)

Cool. That's just ballin picture stats.

Oh and can you increase dexterity and wisdom? Am I allowed to increase my dex since I took penalties with it? If I am not allowed, then just increase endurance instead.

Yeah, you can increase anything.

Here's the rest of the lineup:

I can imagine numbers hanging around their necks, two people infront of them with one walking back and forth going:

"Do you recognise any of these men? Any match your description?"

Actually, that could be a way for this adventure to start! That would be awesome!

And yes, increase dexterity and wisdom for me please. Thanks.

Unfortunately, that won't make sense for the game. But some worlds are still not completely finalized (Narutoverse...), so if you'd like it, you might get it. :P

Anyway, a little question. How important would it be to have player statuses correspond to the turn they're posted in? What I mean is, should I do like I did previously (so you could look back and see what your character was like before), or would it not be too much of a problem if the statuses were always reflecting the last turn?

Essentially, I want to transform the bulky status blocks of old with a set of character images like those posted above, each of which will link to a text file with the entirety of the character's profile written there. If Dropbox allows, maybe even HTML pages.

I'm not of the starting players, but only seeing the last turn's status wouldn't be a problem for me, if that's what you'd prefer. If we want to keep any special images, we could always copy or screenshot them, couldn't we?

You make a good point, scriver.  One way of solving this is having Sean just keep a backup that contains all the statuses from every turn.  ie, he hits save to upload the new status to the dropbox account which is connected to the pictures, then hits save as and appends the turn number to an archive file.  This would be a little tedious by hand, but can be made easy with a simple program I think.  I haven't tried file editing with dropbox, so I'm not sure how that would act differently (if at all) from your computer's normal drives.

What I find more...interesting about this situation is that Sean would probably be updating our pictures every turn, for every status update.  While absolutely amazing (and conducive to a post RTD flip-book) I'm not sure how much time it would take up.  Poor guy's swamped already.

Wow, I like the idea of linking dropbox text files to the pictures! It would also save on the space used for each post, and you will most likely find it easier to change the status' for each player by having the text file on hand. I wonder if the picture would change depending on what happens to you, like would you see injuries, new clothing or powers that you can see, like hands on fire or something.

And how goes it on the next part of the final turn?

The actual setup will still involve a spreadsheet file, probably, I just won't be posting the stuff from the status blocks, instead I'll copy over into the text files.

Alternately, I can probably either keep backups myself or rely on Dropbox's autobackup. I'm not sure how many file versions it keeps though. Anyway, it's just a matter of saving a textfile twice under different names.

And as I've said earlier, if I feel like a turn is being held up by fluff, I'll skip the fluff. I can always go back and change it later (especially since with only one version of the pictures to keep track of, I can always catch up).

Also, I think I'll probably start a new thread for the game itself. We'll keep this one as a discussion/signups thread. I'll post here and PM all selected players when this happens.

As for the final update, it's still going. I have a large chunk of Part 3 done, it'll end right before the big fight at the Clan base. Part 4 will, hopefully, describe the epic battle of twelve people against a hundred battlemechs in excruciatng detail.
