Is that normal?  I thought only pointy weapons got stuck.  Granted, it was just against a buzzard, but wow.
I take it you've not played with adventure mode.

"The spinning lion corpse strikes the lion in the chest. It is stuck firmly in the wound!"

I tried a couple times, but never really got the hang of it.

And this also explains the forbidden weapons thing.  I was wondering why I had forbidden steel weapons.  Mystery solved!

DF treats it as if your opponent was in possession of your weapon, for some reason.

Adventure Mode:
Everyone teams up on you. You run. You end up with LOTS of spears and swords stuck in your hands and legs. (It works better if you don't die.)

you could set the policies to "claim other dead equipment" or smth, then your stuck weapons won't be forbidden. But then you'd have to face the fury of sock-hunters

Does that actually works? I've had it in a few forts and still end up with forbiddened weapons, though I could be mis-remembering the settings.
